A joint activity between SLU and SIANI

SLU Global
SLU Global is a unit at the vice chancellors officefor information, dialogue, strategic planning and
development of ”Policy for Global Development” (PGU) at SLU
SLU Global hosts and coordinates the SLU –SIANI theme at SLU
SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use and management of biological natural resources.
An applied university for agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, horticulture, aquaculture and fisheries with strong
base in biological science and veterinary medicine.
Unlike other Swedish universities, SLU belongs to the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation
PGU at SLUSLU publishes > 2000 international reviewed
research articles per year. In 2014 19 % of those are in cooperation with partners in DAC-countries
and/or with multilateral institutes on global development related subjects.
PGU carried out in all 36 departments and centraat SLU.
During the first year, 2014, SLU Global’s 4 research themeswas the sole frame for activities for the SLU – SIANI theme
In 2015 some workshops have also stemmed from the themes, but increasingly activities have been engaging broader within
SLU and with other external partners in other arenas.
In 2016 this development continues

• More than 200 participants like last time 2013.
• More young researchers and students participated.
• Broader stakeholder participation.

Outcome:Generally more
cooperation across academia, civil society,
government, private sector.
We may not always see eye to eye on everything, we have different roles – this is ok!
We should not forget to show that this is ok in ourinternational cooperation.
But our efforts to discuss, join and bring forward common goals in AGENDA 2030 gives us a better creditto influence development
