Dear DuJardin Families,

This week and next, students in all grades will participate in NWEA MAP testing. Teachers will use the information from the MAP assessment to set academic goals with students & determine how to best differentiate instruction. The MAP assessment is administered three times a year (Fall, Winter, & Spring). Besides the MAP test, teachers will also administer a formative reading assessment to students. Teachers will use this information to form guided reading groups & determine how to best support students as they encounter increasingly challenging levels of text. If you have any questions about either assessment, please reach out to the classroom teacher or contact the building principal.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: [email protected] or 630-894-9200.

Curriculum Night: Mark your calendar Thursday, September 16th for our virtual Curriculum Night which will take place from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Parents will have an opportunity to listen to teacher presentations and ask questions. There will be three sessions on Thursday evening, The first session will run from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm and will be for those parents interested in chatting with fine arts, special education and support services staff. Then from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm classroom teachers will have two scheduled sessions. Teachers will present from 6:00 pm - 6:40 pm and then a repeat session will run from 6:50 pm - 7:30 pm. Stay tuned for more information and invites from your child's teacher.

Responsibility Pledge: This week, students will participate in handbook talks with the principal and assistant principal. We ask all students and parents sign a Responsibility Pledge that they have read and will follow the expectations at DuJardin Elementary School. Please sign/return the Responsibility Pledge by Friday, September 10th.

Safety Reminder: It is not safe to walk between cars and in front of oncoming traffic. For the safety of our parents and students, we ask that you do not park your car and walk your child through the parking lot. There are two lanes of traffic, one that stops to drop/pick up students and the other a passing lane. It is hard to see parents and students walking between cars when someone is driving in the passing lane. We ask that you stay in your car and use the drop off line.

ATTENTION DUJARDIN FAMILIES!If you are able, please send an old t-shirt to school with your student. The shirt should

be large enough to fit over your child’s clothes, and able to get ruined. The kids will store this t-shirt in their lockers, and bring

it down to the art room to wear when we are doing messy projects to protect their

school outfits!

Remember, these shirts will get messy with paint, clay, etc. so please make sure it is an

old t-shirt that can get ruined!

Please label the shirt with your child’s first and last name! It can be on the shirt itself

or the tag!

Thank you! :) Mrs. Bevente
