DESCRIPTION

Thats right. It does. Everything tends to work out OK. We may run into walls, things may slow us down, but we manage to land back on our feet. Things aren’t perfect. Things are OK. And in a way thats all we really need. Who cares about keeping up with the Jones’s. The Jones’s got their own problems. Though bad things may happen in our lives, we should focus on the good so we can enjoy the present and look forward to the future. Chaos and comfort all rolled into one. Bad things only happen so we have something to compare good things to. The following is a collection of work created by Stephen Harris with the idea that “everything works out OK” with hopes to inspire creativity and good intentions. Thanks for checking it out.

Mistakes happen, Why not just paint over them? This piece is a good example of that. So many layers of paint and ink piled on top of each other. Keeping what I like and covering up what I don’t.

Origionaly the name of this zine was going to be “Girls, Birds, and Clouds.” In almost every piece they are subject matter. This piece in particular just happens to have all three.

The girl in this piece is glorified, a goddess out of the clouds. She pays attention to the singing bird on her finger. At the same time she has another bird eating out of her hand.

Whenever someone is smoking it looks like they are relieving whatever weight maybe apon their sholders. Looking down and escaping the chaos of life for a brief moment in time.

The rambling and sporadically crammed code in the background represents all chaotic at-tachments we have with technology and the constant conversations we hear and have with the world. All the preasures which may be pushing her along.

In the distance are two shadowy figures she is ignoring for this moment. We can’t block out the world for long, but sometimes it’s nice to get away from the chaos to re-ex-amine the situation and figure out what to do next before swimming back into the code.

“Don’t bite,” or don’t copy, is kind of ironic because these teeth are repeated stencils. There’s nothing wrong with inspiration and copying what one likes, but is important to add some unique color to it.

“Bark is worse than your bite.” Animals tend to show their teeth as a defense. “Smile at the camera.” “Lieing through their teeth.” Teeth have such a strong emphasis on expression. Making us vicious or friendly. Showing others our personality.

In an OK world, we have to smile when we’re comfortable and become an attack dog when we are in our defense.

A good balance, standing up for what we believe in as well as laughing off what may be frustrating.

Life may not be easy but our teeth can get us through the toughest situations.

We often stare at two birds on a telephone wire like a distant, perfect life style of people. Telephone wires are too high for us to know what’s really going on. We tend to assume others have it better, when in reality we’re all trying to figure out what the next pirch is going to be.

Gravity is a tough thing, Pulling us down. Birds don’t let gravity get the best of them. They can fly anywhere, sit on roof tops, tele-phone lines, and on property that isn’t theirs. If the climate is harmful, they leave it behind and find what works best for them.

Birds represent freedom and living where the sky is the limit, floating along with the currents of the wind and going wherever the food or next interesting view is. Always on the move. You gotta put the world under your wings and find what pirch works best, so you can survive.

The two birds were redrawn and repainted so many times that they have ghostly halos surounding them. The blue and green back-ground are actually the words “and every-thing worked out OK” repeated over and over again. The Chrome writing on the bottom half also repeats the phrase over and aver again.
