The Bamboo Bar in the 1970’s

he Bamboo Bar is a landmark that personifies the passion,

seductive elegance and spirit of both The Oriental Hotel

and Bangkok’s rich history.

From humble beginnings in 1953 in what is now the hotel’s

renowned Authors’ Wing, The Bamboo Bar grew in size

and reputation to become an international legend.

In late 2014, the bar closed for an extensive renovation,

intended to propel this iconic establishment into the future

whilst preserving its unique history and unique character.

Welcome to the new Bamboo Bar - refreshed,

remixed and reinvented.

The Bamboo Bar is teaming up with Malai Thai Spirits and

Bootleggers Trading Co. to bring you fantastic modern

cocktails made from local ingredients.

Bars around Bangkok will come together on 25th November to

showcase their local cocktails and guests have the chance to

vote for their favorite!

THAI TEA MILK PUNCH

Malai Tea Liquor | Lamai Rum | Clarified Milk | Khao Yai Wild Honey

An intriguing mix of Thailand traditional Thai Tea and the classic cocktail,

milk punch. From the name, you may think the cocktail is creamy and heavy,

however, the clarification of the milk, honey and lychee vinegar, leaves a

balanced clear liquid, packed with flavour.

Balsamic Paint

Inspired by beautiful Thai design, the Suay Siam looks too good to drink! A

cocktail packed with robust coconut flavour with an all spice kick the cocktail

is finished with a streak of balsamic paint, which will slowly change the

flavour of the cocktail.

The world of Single Malt Whisky is a fascinating one.

All under binding rules, yet all carry their own character and history.

We have split our Single Malt Whiskies into their distillery base. Although,

whiskies from the same region carry different characters, similarities can be

found in the flavor profile due to the distilleries usually sharing the same

water supply.

SPEYSIDE

Speyside whiskies are occasionally the most popular as they are usually

smooth and easy to drink. The flavor can vary due to the finishing barrel

but can generally be classified either as light and grassy or rich and sweet.

HIGHLAND

The largest in both area and production of single malt whiskies,

The Highlands houses some of Scotland’s most famous distilleries.

Highland whiskies are usually smooth with subtle spice notes,

with the occasional hint of smoke.

ISLAY

The whiskies of the distilleries along the southeastern coast of the island

have a smoky character derived from peat, considered a central

characteristic of the Islay malts, and ascribed both to the water from which

the whisky is made and to the peat levels of the barley.

They also possess notes of iodine, seaweed and salt.

ISLAND

The whiskies produced on the Islands are extremely varied and have few

similarities, though can often be distinguished from other whisky regions

by generally having a smokier flavour with peaty undertones.

LOWLAND

Lowland has the fewest distilleries to land ratio of all the regions.

The region commonly triple distils whisky giving it a lighter taste.
