• The Ancient Greeks worshipped gods and goddesses. They were responsible for all of nature. They looked like people and felt human emotions. However, they were immortal.

• The Olympics were started as a religious ceremony to honor Zeus (the chief god).

WHAT STARTED THE PERSIAN WARS?

• Greeks set up cities in the Persian empire, but refused to pay Persian taxes. The Persians attacked the Greeks. After a 20 year war, the Greeks defeated the Persians.
