Many Egyptian Murals were made from gold and semi-precious stones, this was used to protect and preserve the mural for a very long time. Gold was used because it was one of the most important products of Nubia. Murals were made inside the pyramids inside the tombs in the homes of the kings at the time. What was the process of creating a mural and who did it? The Mural would have always been done by the slaves. They first engraved the design into the wall; they would then add the colour to it. The colour was usually made from oils and minerals. If the stone wasn’t smooth enough to draw on, it would be plastered using a mould, which was made out of straw or brown earth making it easier to engrave on What was the reason/purpose for creating murals? Murals would tell stories of the kings and leaders also about the lifestyle of Egyptians during that time. Many Murals were based around daily life, historical figures from Egypt; they would usually be centred on the gods.

Murals were also being made about Pharaohs, battles, important events, gods, it was usually based on things that they would want future generation to know about and remember.
