AN INTRODUCTION TO

SLOVENIASlovenia is a hidden treasure, nestling between Croatia and Italy. It boasts a fusion of many of the region’s most desirable attributes, from stunning Alpine scenery, to grand Venetian architecture

Slovenia is a largely unknown and undiscovered destination, revealing a wealth of surprises to the visitor. Her people are warm and welcoming, and as proud of their heritage as they are of their beautiful, natural landscape. Since the fall of Communist Yugoslavia, Slovenia has been an independent democracy, and joined the EU in 2004.

Natural beautySlovenia is a relatively small country, but encompasses an astonishing diversity of terrain. Over 50% of the country is covered in forest, a verdant canopy of spruce, beech and larch, as well as the linden, with its heart-shaped leaves, which have become a symbol of the country.

Slovenia has become a magnet for those wanting to get back to nature. Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj are perfect retreats for those who want to explore the natural landscape on foot or by bike. There are opportunities for rafting, canoeing, rock-climbing, fishing and wild-water swimming.

Slovenia is also an enthusiastic skiing nation, and her winter sports facilities are of a very high standard. If you visit during the season, which usually lasts from December through to April, you will never be far from a ski resort. Slovenia’s mountains and National Park are home to a variety of wildlife including brown bears, ibex, wolves and lynx.

Heritage and traditionUntil recently, life in Slovenia revolved mostly around agriculture and the revolving seasons of the countryside. Regional folk traditions still play a significant role in Slovenian life. Each region has its own costume and local festivals. Folk music is enjoyed throughout the country, based on the accordion, pan pipes (trstenka) and the zither. Handicrafts include embroidery, lace-making and decorative painting on furniture and on the distinctive beehive panels, which can be seen throughout the country.

Alpine lakes and peaksTo the north lie the Julian Alps and the Karavanke mountains, with the Triglav National Park, overlooked by the three-pronged peak of Mount Triglav. Perhaps most famous of Slovenia’s tourist attractions is the picturesque Lake Bled, with its fairytale cliff-top castle, picturesque island church and tranquil setting. Nearby, in the heart of the national park is the smaller Lake Bohinj. Both are ideal holiday spots for those who simply want to relax and recharge their batteries.

Subterranean wondersIn the Karst region, subterranean rivers have carved out impressive underground cave complexes, including the country’s most popular natural attraction, the Postojna Caves, which encompass some 12 miles of tunnels, chambers and caverns, with awe-inspiring rock formations including huge stalactites and stalacmites.

“Slovenia is the perfect holiday destination, compact and diverse and offering a wealth of holiday experiences, just waiting to be discovered”

Historic capitalIn the centre of the country, lies the charming capital city of Ljubljana, which enchants with its majestic architecture and pretty riverfront promenades. The Ljubljanica river flows through the centre of the old town, which is free of traffic. The river is lined with cafes, restaurants and bars, perfect for people-watching, and crossed by captivating pedestrian bridges. The city has a laidback Mediterranean ambience and is a great place to visit all year round. Lake Bled is only 20 minutes’ drive away, so the two destinations of Ljubljana and Lake Bled make a perfect contrasting and complementary two centre holiday.

It is easy and rewarding to explore this compact capital on foot, passing ornate churches and magnificent palaces, and wandering through her vast parks. Browsing in Ljubljana’s markets and boutiques is a pleasure.

Adriatic coastlineSlovenia has but a short stretch of Adriatic coastline, only 30 miles long. The charming coastal town of Piran, with its pretty houses, painted in pastel colours, was once part of the Venetian Empire, and owes its ornate buildings to the wealth generated from the salt pans nearby.

Neighbouring Portoroz also has an illustrious past, becoming popular for coastal breaks at the turn of the last century, when the Habsburgs built the grand Kempinski Palace, which is now a hotel.

Ljubljana & Piran/Portoroz

This is a classic two-centre holiday, combining a few days in the entrancing Slovenian capital of Ljubljana with a stay on the coastOnce you have explored the pretty Slovenian capital, you will be able to head to the coast and spend some time relaxing in the charming resort of Piran - or if you prefer, Portoroz or even combine this with one of the Croatia resorts on the Istrian Peninsula, please do call our friendly reservations team for a quotation.

You will fly from the UK to Ljubljana and be transferred by car to Piran/Portoroz. En route you will drive through the beautiful Slovenian countryside and also have the opportunity to explore one of Europe’s biggest natural attractions - the magnificent caves of Postojna. These caves consist of over 12 miles of chambers and tunnels, with dazzling stalactites and stalacmites. First opened in 1819, these caves are one of Europe’s biggest natural attractions. Your tour takes place in part on a subterranean railway, and in part on foot and is an unforgettable experience.

After spending the last part of your holiday relaxing in the sunshine and enjoying the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic, you will be picked up by car and taken to Ljubljana airport for your return flight home.

2 Ljubljana & Lake Bled/Bohinj

Slovenia’s two best known destinations, juxtaposing the bustle of city life with the serene splendour of her lakes & mountains Ljubljana must be one of Europe’s most charming capital cities. It is packed full of Mediterranean joie de vivre, relaxed and friendly in equal measure. The old town, with its grand architecture, is completely pedestrianised, making it easy and pleasant to explore. The river Ljubljanica river runs through the centre, crossed by pedestrian bridges, each bursting with character.

Less than an hour’s drive away is the enchanting Lake Bled. It is a peaceful retreat, surrounded by magnificent natural beauty - imposing mountains and a breath-takingly beautiful lake Alternatively, you can choose to spend the second part of your holiday staying in Lake Bohinj or the nearby village of Bohinj Bistrica, in the heart of the Triglav National Park. Bohinj is not as well known or as popular as Lake Bled, which makes it the perfect getaway for those who really want to get back to nature. Keen walkers, cyclists and swimmers will revel in its natural, unspoiled beauty.

You will fly from the UK to Ljubljana, be transferred by car from Ljubljana to Lake Bled/Bohinj and back for your flight home.

An optional excursion to the stunning Postojna Caves can be added

Ljubljana, Lake Bled & Rovinj

Take in Ljubljana, the beautiful Alpine scenery of one of Slovenia’s beautiful lakes and Rovinj on Croatia’s sparkling Istrian Peninsula Slovenia may only be a small country, but it offers a wealth of experiences. It is also so close to Croatia, that it is easy to combine a stay in both countries on one holiday.

Ljubljana is the perfect city break destination - charming, friendly, with plenty of history to explore, great restaurants, relaxed bars, and very easy to get around on foot. It makes the ideal introduction to Slovenia. Stay 3 nights in the hotel of your choice before being picked up by chauffeur-driven car and driven for approximately one hour to Lake Bled.

It may only be a short distance, but Lake Bled feels like a world away as you swap the grand architecture of the city for the magnificent mountain vistas of the Julian Alps and the stunning Triglav National Park. Stay for 3 nights and explore the beautiful countryside, or simply enjoy the views, before being transferred to Croatia’s Istrian peninsula and the resort of Rovinj.

En route stop off for a visit of the spectacular Postojna Caves. These caves consist of over 12 miles of chambers and tunnels, with dazzling stalactites and stalacmites. First opened in 1819, these caves are one of Europe’s biggest natural attractions.

Ljubljana, Lake Bled & Porec

This holiday combines the fascinating highlights of Slovenia with Croatia’s beautiful Istrian PeninsulaThe beautiful country of Slovenia is so close to Croatia, that it is easy to combine a stay in both countries on one holiday. This three centre holiday offers you the opportunity to combine a city break in Ljubljana, with a stay amongst the beautiful Alpine scenery of one of Slovenia’s beautiful lakes, finally ending your holiday in a the coastal resort of Porec on Croatia’s sparkling Istrian Peninsula.

The Istrian region of Croatia is the closest to Italy, and shares much of the same Adriatic culture. During the 20th century alone it came under five different jurisdictions - starting with the Austro- Hungarian Empire, then becoming Italian, German, Yugoslav and finally Croatian. Unurprisingly, it retains a cosmopolitan feel.

Ljubljana is the perfect city break destination - charming, friendly, with plenty to explore, great restaurants, relaxed bars, and very easy to get around on foot. It makes the ideal introduction to Slovenia.

Stay 3 nights in the hotel of your choice before being picked up by chauffeur-driven car and driven for approximately one hour, before you reach Lake Bled. It may only be a short distance, but it feels like a world away as you swap the grand architecture of the city for the magnificent mountain vistas of the Julian Alps and the stunning Triglav National Park. Stay for 3 nights and explore the beautiful countryside, or simply enjoy the views, before being transferred to Croatia’s Istrian peninsula and the resort of Porec.

Ljubljana, Lake Bled & Piran

Blend a city break with magnificent lake and mountain scenery and end with beachfront relaxation in the enchanting resort of PiranThis holiday starts in Ljubljana, where we have an excellent choice of boutique and luxury hotels. For more details of the city and which hotels are available see pages 12-15.

On leaving Ljubljana you will be taken by car to Lake Bled (or Lake Bohinj), to stay amidst the beautiful Alpine scenery. The active can choose to hike, cycle or even canoe or swim in the lakes - or if you prefer, you can simply lie back and enjoy the scenery. For more information about this beautiful area, see pages 16-23.

You will be driven from Lake Bled to Slovenia’s coast. It only runs for 27 miles or so along the Adriatic, but it is a beautiful area, rich with Venetian architecture and beloved by the Habsburg aristocracy.

En route, you will make a visit to one of Europe’s most popular natural attractions, the magnificent Postojna Caves. These impressive caverns and tunnels run for some 12 miles under the ground, and include breath-taking stalactites and stalacmites.

Piran is the jewel of Slovenia’s coast. Its vast wealth was built on the salt it shipped from nearby Secovlje to Venice, and its grand Italianate buildings still remain. It is a beautiful town of narrow alleys and splendid piazzas, overlooked by the imposing St. George’s Cathedral.

LJU

BLJA

NA

LJUBLJANAA charming city bursting with magnificent architecture, Ljubljana has a laid-back Mediterranean vibe. The captivating old town, overlooked by the enchanting castle is picturesque and atmospheric

The Ljubljanica river runs through the centre of Ljubljana’s old town, criss-crossed by a series of pedestrian bridges. The bridges chart Ljubljana’s rich architectural heritage, the sculptures on the art nouveau dragon bridge evoking the beast which was once said to have ruled the Ljubljana marshes. The triple bridge is perhaps one of the city’s best known landmarks, designed by the famous architect Plecnik in 1929. The most recent addition is Butchers’ bridge, opened in 2010, which is adorned by padlocks left here by romantic couples.

The riverside cafes are the perfect place to watch the world go by and simply soak up the atmosphere. The old town is a pedestrian zone, making it ideal for meandering walks, exploring the narrow streets and attractive piazzas. There are some excellent restaurants serving mouth-watering local Slovenian and Mediterranean specialities.

A few days in Ljubljana makes for the perfect city break. It’s small enough that you can explore it on foot without feeling overwhelmed. The river and pedestrian zone at its heart makes for an unhurried pace, ideal for unwinding and savouring the ambience and the captivating architecture.

ConnectionsSlovenia is a compact country, which makes it easy to get around and see more of its diverse landscape. The drive to Lake Bled, with its dramatic mountain scenery, takes only around 1 hour 15 minutes so it is easy to combine the two, whether for a two-centre holiday or just as a day trip.

• Transfers and DistancesLjubljana Airport is just 25 minutes’ transfer time from the main city.

Make sure you...• Take the funicular railway up to the picturesque Ljubljana Castle

to admire the views.

• Soak up the atmosphere at the bustling outdoor market - it’s worth the early start! You will find it not far from St. Nicholas’s Cathedral.

• Picnic in the beautiful setting of Tivoli Park.

• Take a day-trip to Lake Bled to enjoy the Slovenian natural landscape at its best.

What to do in LjubljanaOld town landmarks include the St. Nicholas Cathedral with its distinctive bronze doors, and ornate interior. Meanwhile the new town is home to many of the art nouveau masterpieces including the Grand Hotel Union and the Centromerkur building, now a fashion store.

The distinctive 11th century Ljubljana Castle sits atop a wooded hill, perching above the old town, surveying the red-roofed houses. It can be reached by the funicular railway, and is well worth a visit. The views from the castle walls are spectacular and the castle museum houses a fascinating display, allowing the visitor to journey through Slovenia’s history. During summer evenings, the courtyard is often used for musical performances.

Cobbled streets, markets & boutiquesMake sure you get up early enough to catch the lively outdoor market, which sells all kinds of fruit and vegetables, local produce and handicrafts. Take a walk down the main street, the narrow cobbles of Stari Trg, now home to small boutiques and upmarket shops. Great souvenirs include decorative glass and crystal, hand-woven lace and specialities such as hand-made chocolates, Piran salt crystals, local honey and olive oil.

Head out to the sprawling Tivoli Park, laid out during the early 19th century. It is a great place to picnic amidst the formal gardens, verdant lawns and wildflower meadows.

Cultural highlightsCulture buffs will not be short of things to do with the Modern Gallery displaying Slovene art, the National museum of Slovenia which concentrates on the country’s archaeological heritage and the Natural History Museum which displays its flora and fauna.

However you choose to spend your time in Ljubljana you are sure to be pleasantly surprised by this gem of a city, which is both enticing and entertaining. It is the perfect spot for a relaxed city break. Ljubljana

LAKE

BLE

D

LAKE BLEDSlovenia’s best known attraction, spectacular Lake Bled is surrounded by breath-taking mountain scenery, with wooded slopes, a fairy-tale castle and picturesque island church

Lake Bled is popular with visitors of all ages, from the energetic who want to hike in the surrounding hills and gorges, to those who want to simply admire the views. And what stunning views they are! To the eastern end of the lake perches the dramatic Bled Castle, on top of a sheer cliff. To the west is Bled Island, with its picture-postcard church rising from amongst the trees.

Tourism began here in the 19th century, when the renowned physician, Arnold Rikli, opened his ‘Institute of Natural Healing’ here, offering cures for all types of ills and health complaints. It quickly became popular with fashionable society, visited by the aristocracy of Vienna and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Yugoslav King Aleksander I chose Bled as his summer residence in 1921, and later Tito had his summer residence here at Villa Bled. The railway arrived in 1906, and steam trains still run regularly for a charming day trip through the beautiful scenery.

Lake Bled still retains its aristocratic charm and continues to attract visitors now as it did then. Some simply want to soak up the views or take a relaxed promenade along the lake; others come to swim in the clear waters; and others still are here to hike in the surrounding mountains and ramble in the foothills. Lake Bled is more than capable of satisfying them all!

ConnectionsSlovenia is a compact country, so it is easy to use Lake Bled as a base. Take a day trip to the capital of Ljubljana, just over an hour away. There is a steam train service from Lake Bled’s Jezero Station to Bohinj Bistrica.

• Transfers and DistancesLjubljana Airport to Lake Bled: 1 hour and 15 minutes’ transfer by road.

Make sure you...• Take a boat trip on one of the distinctive canopied rowing boats

known as ‘pletna’ to visit the island Church of the Assumption.

• Enjoy a stroll along the path which leads right around the lake - it shouldn’t take much more than an hour.

• Visit Bled Castle museum to learn about the history and traditions of the region.

• Take a day-trip on the steam train to nearby Bohinj Bistrica for awe-inspiring mountain scenery.

What to do in Lake BledTraditional rowing boats known as pletna operate on the lake, and are the most pleasant way to reach the island. From the lake, there are 99 steps leading up to the Church of the Assumption. It is associated with the Virgin Mary, and is still a site of pilgrimage. Inside the church there are remains of some 15th century frescoes.

Also well worth a visit is Bled Castle, first built in the 11th century. It not only boasts fantastic views over the lake, but also houses a fascinating museum displaying the history of the castle, and the development of tourism in the area.

Leisurely walks & cream slicesLake Bled is famous for its delicious cream slices, which are best enjoyed after a bracing walk. There is a path, which runs in a circuit right around the lake, and a leisurely stroll to enjoy the scenery takes little more than an hour.

Hiking trailsThose who are more energetic can take one of the hiking trails which lead through the nearby gorges - the popular Vintgar gorge, with its wooden walkways over impressive waterfalls is spectacular.

Others may choose simply to swim in the clear waters of the lake, take out a rowing boat, or just enjoy the beautiful views.

However you choose to spend your time in Lake Bled, you are sure to return from your holiday relaxed and refreshed.

Hotel Triglav

This charming family-run hotel sits high above Lake Bled and offers an intimate, friendly ambience

The Hotel Triglav first opened in 1906, which is the same year as the railway started running to Lake Bled. It is very close to the railway station, which is still visited by a steam train every other day, for day trips to Bohinj.

There is nothing standard about Hotel Triglav’s rooms, each room is individually decorated and furnished and most have beautiful views over the surrounding mountain pastures, woods, and on to Lake Bled itself and its tiny island.

The hotel’s indoor swimming pool has large windows looking over the lake. The hotel also has its own wine cellar, with weekly tastings of local wines, accompanied by Slovenian speciality cheese and meat.

LAKE BOHINJSet in the spectacular Triglav National Park, Lake Bohinj is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery

Lake Bohinj is a perfect base for those who want to explore the magnificent natural beauty of the region. Slovenia’s only National Park, the Triglav National Park, is home to her highest peak, the distinctive Mt. Triglav, which rises above the area.

There are many hikes and walking trails for all abilities to explore the lakes and valleys and the foothills of the mountains, which are home to some charming, traditional villages. Everywhere you will see the characteristic kozolec, the racks used to dry hay. One of the most popular trails is the one leading to the impressive waterfalls of Slap Savica. Cycling is also a great way to get around, and there are plenty of places from which to hire a bike.

Those who prefer to take to the water can canoe on Lake Bohinj, which is also perfect for swimming. There are lots of swimming areas and the water is spectacularly clear, thanks to the fresh mountain streams, which run down into the lake.

The lake itself, around 30 minutes by bike from Bohinj Bistrica, is breathtakingly attractive, and much less visited than nearby Bled. The picturesque church of St. John is known for its frescoes, and there are a few restaurants and cafés on the waterfront, but generally it is a place to enjoy peace and quiet and contemplate the beautiful natural landscape.

Take the cable car up from the lake to the mountain area of Vogel, which is popular with skiers in winter, to enjoy fantastic views of the Triglav massif. There is a steam train which runs from Bohinj Bistrica to Bled’s Jezero station for an interesting day out. Meanwhile, those who want to chill out can visit the Aquapark at the Hotel Park.

ConnectionsThere is a steam train service from Lake Bled’s Jezero Station to Bohinj Bistrica.

PIRAN & PORTOROZPiran is the jewel of Slovenia’s Adriatic coast - a beautiful Italianate town on a lovely peninsula

Piran is the perfect spot for a relaxed summer holiday - spend your days enjoying the beautiful Adriatic coast, swimming in the clear waters and soaking up the sun. Wander the streets of the beautiful medieval town, with its grand Venetian architecture. The ambience is sleepy and it is a fantastic place to while away the hours. Meander through narrow alleys and winding streets, coming upon impressive squares. Take a walk along the old city walls and admire the views over the peninsula, offering a panoramic vista of the coast.

Just a short drive down the coast, is the larger resort of Portoroz, the ‘city of flowers’, which became a favourite of the Habsburg aristocracy, who built the grand Kempinski Palace here in 1910. They came for the therapeutic spa treatments which still attract visitors today. Its palm-lined promenade runs the length of the resort, with its man-made sandy beach. It offers a good standard of hotel accommodation and some excellent restaurants.

The region is known for its wine and an interesting day out is to visit the nearby vineyards and sample the excellent local wines. The surrounding countryside is also home to many interesting caves. The Secovlje salt pans have now become a wildlife sanctuary, its marshlands the habitat of protected flora and fauna, and a popular spot with birdwatchers, especially during migration.

ConnectionsAlthough Piran is in Slovenia, Slovenia’s coastline is under 30 miles long, so it is very close to the borders with Italy and Croatia, and, therefore, easily reached from a number of airports including Trieste (Italy) and Pula (Croatia) as well as Ljubljana.

• Transfer and Distances1.5 hours drive from Trieste Airport (Italy); 2 hours from Ljubljana.

Hotel Piran

This charming hotel is set in a beautiful location right on the seafront in the heart of the enchanting old town of Piran

The Hotel Piran is in a beautiful location. It overlooks the clear waters of the Adriatic, right on the seafront promenade, with terraces and a jetty for easy access into the sea. To one side are the rolling hills and to the other the terracotta roofs of Piran’s grand houses.

It has been welcoming guests since 1913, but has been recently renovated, its stylish design offering an enticing blend of the contemporary and the traditional.

Its shady seafront terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a freshly-blended fruit smoothie whilst admiring the views, or relishing a good book. Meanwhile the elegant café/restaurant offers delicious local specialities.

The tiny roof-top terrace boasts splendid views of the area and is the perfect place to enjoy the panorama of an evening, accompanied by a romantic drink before dinner. It is popular so don’t forget to pre-book your cocktails!

Please note that some islands are completely car-free and some resorts operate car-free zones in the summer, therefore, it may not be possible to deliver you to your hotel by car. If you have any difficulty in walking please make this clear at the time of booking so that we can advise you about the suitability of your chosen accommodation. TransfersYou will be transferred to/from the airport by car or minibus (and occasionally by coach) accompanied by our representative (for car or taxi transfer a representative is not always available). When a minibus or coach is used, it is always air-conditioned. We can also arrange private transfers on request. Those on a tailor-made or two-centre holiday will usually be transferred by taxi with an English-speaking driver. Please note that the transfer times given on hotel pages are shown for guidance only and do not take into account the time it may take to drop off other guests at their accommodation en route to your own.

Your HostsOur representatives, whom we would like to call your hosts, will be pleased to provide you with local information and answer any queries you may have. In addition the telephone number and address of our representative will be provided with your holiday itinerary so that you can contact them should any problem arise. In the unlikely event that you do experience any difficulties whilst in resort, it is essential that you contact our representative immediately in order that we may resolve any problems as quickly as possible. We cannot take responsibility for any such difficulties, unless our representative is informed. AccommodationSafety standards are as laid down by the country in question and their regulatory bodies. You should, therefore, take any necessary precautions. In some accommodation air conditioning is only in operation at certain times of the year and/or at set times of the day. Accommodation should usually be vacated by 12.00 noon on the day of your departure. This applies even if you are leaving on a night-flight which may leave in the early hours of the following morning. It may be possible for you to arrange a late check-out if you wish to vacate your room after this time. This is at the discretion of the hotel and there will usually be an additional charge payable locally. Where a hotel is described as having Internet access, either wireless or through a fixed connection, this is usually for those guests travelling with their own laptop. If you have any special dietary requirements then please inform us at the time of booking. Where possible we will try our very best to meet your request but please be aware that some hotels that we feature may not be able to provide these fully. We therefore recommend that any specific preferred foods are brought with you.

1. Your holiday contractWhen you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept the terms of these booking conditions on behalf of your party. As soon as we accept your deposit or payment and issue our confirmation invoice, a contract exists between us. These booking conditions along with other information in this brochure set out the terms and conditions of the contract between us. We reserve the right to refuse any booking.

Conditions: No variations to these conditions shall be valid unless agreed by us in writing. Anatolian Sky is a trading name of World Sky Travel Ltd., (administrative offices: Anatolian House, 81 Warwick Road, Solihull,West Midlands, B92 7HP) and are members of ABTA. It is agreed by all parties that this contract is deemed to have been made at our administrative offices and that disputes arising from the contract will be heard in the English courts, unless the customer chooses Scotland or Northern Ireland. 2. Your financial protectionWe provide full financial protection for our package holidays, by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 2672. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists the flight, accommodation, car hire and/or other services that are financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where we aren’t able do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). We provide full financial protection for our package holidays that do not include a flight, by way of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association (V4937).

3. ABTAWe are a Member of ABTA, membership number G4234/V4937. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. The upper limit on claims is £5,000 per person and £25,000 per booking form. The scheme doesn’t apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. It can however deal with claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com

4. Your holiday price(i) We reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the holidays shown in our brochure. You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wishto book before your contract is confirmed.

(ii) To confirm your holiday you will be required to pay the appropriate deposit and any other applicable supplements due at the time of booking. For example: when we need to pay a hotel in advance. The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid at least 12 weeks before your departure date. Full payment is required for all bookings made no later than12 weeks of departure. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shallretain your deposit. Please note that all payments made by visa or mastercard for your final balance payment (this excludes your deposit payment) will be subject to a 2% surcharge. American Express is subject to a 4% surcharge. All monies you pay to the travel agent are held by them on our behalf at all times.

(iii) Changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel, dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes, embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However, there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offerone (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price) or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. We will consider an appropriate refund of insurance premiums paid if you can show that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place.

5. If you change your bookingOnce your booking has been confirmed, if you wish to change your travel arrangements, we will do our best to meet your requirements where it is possible for us to do so. If we can make the required alteration e.g. to departure airport, date or duration, there will be an administration charge which we will advise you of prior to the amendment being confirmed. You should be aware that such charges may increase significantly as you get closer to your departure date so it is best to contact us as soon as possible. No charge will be made, however, for amendments which involve solely the addition of car hire, insurance or additional arrangements if extra clients are travelling on the same holiday. All amendments must be notified to us in writing by the person who made the booking or your travel agent. If the number of persons booked changes, the holiday price will be recalculated on the basis of the new party size.

IMPORTANT Some travel arrangements (e.g. contracted charter airlines flight tickets or flight tickets purchased from certain airlines and certain hotel bookings) may not be refundable or transferable after a reservation has been made. An alteration request may incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that particular part of the holiday arrangement.

6. If you cancel your travel arrangementsYou may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. If you have to cancel your booking once it has been accepted by us, written notification must be sent to us by the person who made the booking or your travel arrangement on your behalf by recorded delivery post and charges will be applied from the date the letter is received according to the scale below. The charges are applied as a percentage of the holiday cost excluding amendment charges and insurance premiums which are non refundable in the event of cancellation.

More than 84 days: Loss of deposit 57 - 83 days: 30% or your deposit if greater 46 - 56 days: 50% or your deposit if greater 22 - 45 days: 70% of holiday cost 15 - 21 days: 90% of holiday cost Less than 14 days: 100% of holiday cost

IMPORTANT It is a condition of booking that you take the holiday insurance we recommend or arrange insurance for your party with comparable or better cover. World Sky Travel Ltd, trading as Anatolian Sky is an appointed representative of Cover-More Insurance Services Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority FSA no: 312172. If you have taken out holiday insurance you may be able to recover the cancellation charges or any other losses, please check your policy for details.

IMPORTANT Some travel arrangements (e.g. contracted charter airlines flight tickets or flight tickets purchased from certain airlines and certain hotel bookings or holiday extras) may not be refundable or transferable after a reservation has been made. An alteration or cancellation request may incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that particular part of the holiday arrangement. Please also note that any additional items such as inflight meals; prebooked & extra legroom seats; extra luggage allowance and any visas acquired are non-refundable.

7. If we change or cancel your travel arrangementsIt is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements, but we do plan the arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. Most of these changes will be minor and we will advise you or your travel agent of them at the earliest possible date.We also reserve the right in any circumstances to cancel your travel arrangements. For example, if the minimum number of clients required for a particular travel arrangement is not reached, we may have to cancel it. However, we will not cancel your travel arrangements less than 12 weeks before your departure date, except for reasons of force majeure or failure by you to pay the final balance. If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements, you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us, if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). If it is necessary to cancel your travel arrangements, we will pay to you compensation as set out below except where the cancellation arises due to reasons of force majeure:

More than 84 days: Nil 43 - 83 days: £5 29 - 42 days: £10 15 - 28 days: £15 0 - 14 days: £20

In accordance with EU Regulation 2111/2005 we are required to advise you of the actual carrier operating your flight/connecting flight/transfer. We will do this at the time of booking. Any changes to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified to you as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Such a change is deemed to be a minor change. Other examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same standard, changes of airport between Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted. If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your booked holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. In all cases, except where the major change arises due to reasons of force majeure, we will pay compensation as detailed below:

At the time of booking it may not be possible to confirm flight details, due to airline schedules not being finalised. Should this be the case, you will be informed at the time of booking and on your confirmation invoice. The deposit paid will confirm your accommodation only. If your chosen flights are not confirmed or a suitable alternative offered, a full refund of any money received by us will be given.
