Camera Work. (both films) Camera shots in both

trailers each have a mix if both longer shots and Close up shots. This is used by both directors to get a realistic feel to the movie. By using P.O.V shots the director can begin to formulate more than just a verisimilitude but an attitude and awareness of the character that is personal, while films without lose out on this.

Representation.• Chronicle Represents an American background, within school. The

characters are in the older years and the ethnicities vary. The black character within the from fits some stereotypes, he’s the comedian. Whereas the other two white protagonists are more serious characters. They are related and the representation of family and virtues are presented. Social grouping and hierarchies are illustrated within the school background, with friendships and relationships being portrayed.

• Troll Hunter constructs a comedic yet serious picture of Norwegian culture, the comedic part being the idea of trolls actually existing and everything fitting in accordance with legends and stories. The characters are all white Norwegians (that can be seen). The serious part being the idea of government privacy, and this doesn’t just point towards the Norwegian Government. The Troll hunter himself represents a lonely character someone who is used to no company only his work. (hence short tempered.

Values and Ideologies.• Both Trailers both show similar ideologies, both have a similar amount of

characters and try to show them making their own discoveries and journeying.

• Chronicle suggests that power and responsibility have consequences, the outcome of messing with these ultimately is death, the film warns younger people (the audience) that playing with power and if causing a death by doing so affects everyone involves, this includes the person who has done it. The affects of hierarchy and what that does to society, what people will do to fit in and hang around with the “Cool Kids”

• Troll Hunter shows a comedic side to the view on conspiracy and government privacy, the students represent the young and curious people who are most likely to notice things. Politically this is very serious, the outcome of this being the missing of 4 students and 1 death.
