Intro

I have chosen to analyse Neha Raithatha’s A2 Media coursework blog. This is due to her final music video being very good with narration and performance which is a very effective way of constructing and directing a music video. I have been considering doing this type of music video myself, narration and performance, so I thought it would be good for me to analyse someone's blog who did this in their final music video. I will be looking through the different aspects of her blog and how she came about producing her final product.

Research

The best way of coming up with ideas for a music video is watching already existing music videos, and this is what Neha exactly did, she showed music videos which inspired her and gave a few examples of the different styles. After looking through these styles, she came to a conclusion.

It is showed throughout her whole blog that her research was very beneficial to her, this was showed through her talking about her audience, software that she used, digipacks, music labels etc.

Her research made her understand the background of music videos to a greater extent, this in turn meant that she knew what makes a good music video and what doesn’t. Neha carried out a large amount of research which she posted on her blog, this shows that she took a lot of time to think about her own project.

I will conduct similar tasks within my own research in order to gather as much information as possible in order to gain as many ideas as possible.

Planning

Neha’s planning process for her final product is very detailed and very well constructed, it shows that she had a clear vision throughout the year of what she eventually wanted, she was confident in every step she took.

She presented her ideas for her planning through the use of various multi-media platforms, this makes her blog much more interesting and it shows that she has a clear understanding of a range of programs.

Neha made a mood board, outfit ideas, ideas of digipacks. These tasks made it clear what she wanted. I will also be carrying out these tasks in order to present my ideas in a very clear and high quality manner.

Audience feedback was a very important part of her planning due to it telling her the successful points from a viewers point of view.

Final work

Neha’s final music video was a very good one I feel. The combination of both narrative and performance really made it very interesting to watch. Comparing her final work to her research and planning stages, they really link in terms in producing what she always wanted, which ended up to be a very high quality product.

Her final music video flows very well and she has clearly thought about the different scenes within the video and where she wanted to place them. She also has a final product in a digipack and a magazine advert which match to the style of her music video, making all of her final products very consistent.

Conclusion

In conclusion, after looking through all of Neha’s work, I feel that she had successfully produced research and planning to a very high standard which corresponds to her final piece. Her research was clear and thought through a lot. She completed all tasks asked of her and even some extra work in terms of independent research which really adds to the quality of her final music video. She has a clear understanding of many programs which was showed through the presentation of different blog posts.

A key point in which I learnt was that she always kept different drafts of all of her work, so when she added to her work, she can show how she improved. This is great proof through the production stages and something that I aim to do.

Audience feedback meant she was able to gather the pros and cons of her work and was always able to improve on it, consequently meaning she was able to produce the best product possible.
