• What is Observation?– Describe what you see– Observe form the best position – change if necessary for different aspects of performance– Break down the technique/skill/routine (COF- RSPCAB)

• What is Analysis?– Explain why something is happening– Make notes / statistics

Observation and analysis

Evaluation

Interpret information against the perfect model

Recognise strengths and weaknesses

Provide feedback on limitations to performance

Use the correct terminology when feeding

back to performer.

1.Verbally, 2.Physical demonstration, 3.Video playback, 4.Diagrams.

Planning Strategies, Tactics and Practices to Improve Performance

From your observation, analysis and evaluation you have identified what is going well and what needs to be worked on.

What drills/practices are you going to set up to practise these weak areas?

Page 7: Analysis of Performance (AoP)

Practices and Drills to improve performanceThese drill may work on:• Footwork in Netball• Smash in Badminton• Long barrier in Rounders• Front Drop in Trampolining• Front crawl in Swimming

Make sure you can identify the teaching points of different skills:

E.G. Teaching a seat drop in trampolining:

Teaching Points Progressions

Legs straight Practices seat drop position

Toes pointed From standing jump up to land in

Hands just behind hips seat drop position

Fingers facing towards feet Increase height of bounces
