ANALYSIS OF EXSITING PRODUCT – MUSIC VIDEO

THEORIST

Andrew Godwin stated that there should be a clear relationship between the lyrics of the song and the visuals in the song. In this video, the lyrics a contradictory to the visuals meaning that the visuals contrast the lyrics.

LOCATION

The lactation Disclosure chose to shot their music video is highly urban, rural and vandalised. This works well with the underground/indie genre of the song as the visuals help reinforce the genre of the song and conforms to the expectations of the settings an underground music audience would expect to see in a music video.

In my music video, I also want to use similar rural, settings where there is graffiti on walls and possibly over/underground trains stations.

This Music video supports Andrew Godwin's theory which suggests that music videos should represent the stereotypes and conventions of the genre. Most underground/indie music videos are filmed in rural, vandalised settings

CAMERA SHOTS The artist has been shot in a variety of shots throughout the video including low angle shots which makes the artist appear taller but also makes the background seem bigger so the artist appears much smaller in comparison to the building. Long shots which shows not only the artists but the setting the artist is in to. Some shots in the video, only specific areas of the artists body is shot such as only his feet when he is dancing. this draws all audience attention and focus to the way in which his feet moves when he dances. This is something that i would consider doing in my music video if i want to draw all attention to a specific thing.

LIGHTINGThe video does not including much manipulated lighting. all lighting that has been used comes from natural lighting although, they have managed to manipulate the natural lighting to by going into a dark area and standing by a window or far it away from it so that area is the only area that's lightened up.

I like the idea of using natural lighting instead of manipulated lighting as it helps to portray an urban, rural feel to my music video.
