Coldplay Digipak

On the front cover there is a image which represents the artists them selves of their music for this album. The colour of the image is grey which connotes many things such as death, sadness and depression in contrast to the white shades of the background which connotes life and calmness. The image is of a face which looks as though it is being distorted which can relate back to the colour grey which connotes death, so the image can represent the face dying. The image it self is makes the audiences think who this can be and how it relates to the artist as well as the background being blank which gives off a sign of mystery to what this album could be about. This can also show that the album wont be an upbeat sort of album because of the use of colours whereas it wont reflect a depressing mood but a more mellow and relaxing feeling to it. Photoshop could have been used to transform the image like this.

This digipak is a 2 panel CD album of the the band Coldplay where it shows the back and front where the main elements of a CD cover are seen which is the record label name, copyright symbol, website address, bar code and with additional information.

The album name and artist name is both on the back, on the front and on the side of the case with the font similar to how the colours and the image is set as it is not large but in a smaller font even though there is space around it.

I think that the target audience for this would be mostly both male and female adults who enjoy listening to rock music and also most teenagers as Coldplay is well known band around the world. The genre is rock and if someone didn’t know about the artist they would realize it was rock because of the colours which connote with rock music, grey, and the mood that the cover gives off, depressing but mellow at the same time.

Inside this digipak is one CD with a track list on the other side as it is a 2 panel digipak.

The Script Digipak

This is a a 2 panel digipak with a box case for the Irish band The Script. There’s a front cover, one disc, back cover and a booklet. On the back there is the bar code and information on the copy right and record label including additional information.

The image on the front cover case shows of the band who seem to be in a deserted area which may suggest that the album could be about loneliness. On the inside of the case there are two separate images of hands, the first one is on the track list page where the hands have been positioned to show that the person is praying to God which relates to the album title Faith and the second set of hands are clutched with one another which can connote to the Science in the album title as the hands look very similar to the images of the atom on the disc.

The colour scheme on this digipak are very much limited as you can only see black, gold and a skin colour tone. The black colour has been used for the clothing on the band which can connote that they are in a negative state in their emotions which could reflect in the songs. The gold is only used on the atom symbol on the disc and the skins tone colour has been used a lot as it is used on the hands and the background. This colour reflects a calm and relaxing mood which could be a contrast to the black disc and the clothing which can connotes the mixed emotions in the album songs.

The members in the band themselves have been positioned differently to on another by each of them on behind the other which could represent the importance of each member as they are more closer to the front. Also their facial expressions show that they are not happy as they look sad.

The images of the hands look like they have been enhanced using Photoshop to highlight them more by giving more lighting on them and making the back hands darker to show a contrast in lighting. This could relate back to the contrast of the colours and how each colour represents an emotion which could be related to the songs.

The genre of this album would probably be slow rock songs as the colours reflect emotions but the black colour shows a rock type feeling. I think that the target audience for this album is mainly adults who probably could relate to the songs as well as people who enjoy listening to songs which reflect emotions.

I think that the digipak is successful because use its indifferent to most other digipaks as the front cover doesn’t show a happy mood but a more sad but also calm mood at the same time along with mystery of what the people on the front cover could be thinking about.

The front cover image shows the artists face but 2 different versions of her which could connote that she has two different personalities to show throughout the album. The two different images have been emerged together using Photoshop and it looks like the artist wanted to show the tear to give an effect and it also can connote the roughness of the artist as she looks very wild from the images. There is also a collection of images of the artist inside the digipak where you can see her posing in wild outfits.

The colours in this digipak mostly relate to the colours on the American flag which could be to reflect where the artist comes from. The colours have been made to look like mists of colours which could connote the colourful background of the artist. There is also the American

The genre of this digipak looks as though it could be a dance type music from all the different colours on the digipak. The target audience for this album could be people who enjoy dance type music as well as teenagers as they are mostly in to listening to dance music and like going to clubs.

Kesha DigipakThe font on the front cover is written in a scruffy to sort of reflect her identity in the album. The inside of the digipak has a lot of writing which is the information about the album.

On the back it as the bar code, copy right information and also the other information. Also next to them is the track list which is hovering above a image of the artist who is lying in a sexual position which could be to drag the male audiences.
