Analysing Survey Results

Danielle Watkins

9 out of the people that took my survey were female, as the other 2 were male. Therefore, when creating my newspaper

advertisement I will ensure that the main target audience I apply my advertisement to will be towards females. As a soap channel

we expected majority of the audience to be female. To help create my advertisement to the perfect audience, I needed to find out

the age range, which leads me onto the next question.

The main age range that shows interest in newspaper advertisements are 16-18 year olds. A large number of 9 people, out of the 11, are 16-18 years old, therefore, I need to be careful with the language type and the colours. For example young adults will not be interest in girly colours such as pink, but will be interested in exciting colours

such as red/blue. However, further on I ask the question of what colour they will prefer. The language type needs to be formal and professional, however, friendly and easy to read and understand. Therefore, including large, difficult words will bore the

reader, and loose interest.

The survey result show various replies to when people read

newspaper advertisements. Only

one person never reads a newspaper

advertisement, whereas majority of the people read one

once a week. Not many people are going to read a

newspaper advertisement

everyday, because most people can

access the internet, and have no reason to

buy a newspaper article.

All the response I got for this

question was equal. Video

advertisement was the most

popular answer, followed closely

behind with animated

advertisement.

• Everyone agreed that I would need to include all the features listed.

However, a low amount of people didn’t think I

should include the companies slogan. I will still include a slogan into

our newspaper advertisement to make our TV channel more

recognizable, however, I may include it slightly smaller than originally planned, and present it

in the corner.

Majority of the people who

answered my survey would

expect to see either classic colours in my magazine, such as black and white, or either hot colours

such as red and yellow. Only a one person said they would like to see

cold colours, therefore, I will

avoid using colours such as blue and

purple.

Absolutely everyone agreed that they would expect images in my newspaper advertisement, therefore, I will

ensure to include a main image to grab

the readers attention.

A large amount of people said that a colour newspaper advertisement will

attract their attention, only one person said black and white, and 2 people said any

type. Therefore, I will use colourful

colour in my newspaper

advertisement as this would help to

attract my audience.
