TI’s INA270 (G = 14 V/V) and INA271 (G = 20 V/V) are two-stage, high-side current-shunt monitors. They provide a wide common-mode voltage range (–16 to +80 V) that makes themwell-suited for automotive applications where protection against high-voltage transients andbattery reversal is required. Operating from supplies ranging from 2.7 to 18 V, they offer ±3%maximum output error over the extended temperature range of –40 to +125°C.

With a common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 120 dB, the dynamics of common-mode voltagesare no longer an issue. The two-stage topology of the INA270/1 readily enables filtering andpreserves the buffered voltage output, eliminating the need for an additional op amp. Typicalapplications include control of (BL)DC-motors and variable-force solenoids.

The TLC5917 is designed for LED displays and LED lighting applications with constant-currentcontrol and open-load, shorted-load and overtemperature detection. It contains an 8-bit shiftregister and data latches that convert serial input data into parallel output format. At the outputstage, eight regulated current ports are designed to provide uniform, constant current for drivingLEDs within a wide range of VF variations.
