Ponovno su pred nama nova ostvarenja svestrane hrvatske umjetnice, akademske grafičarke Ane Sla-detić. Autorica nam i u novim ciklusima daje dio vla-stite intime na uvid, protkan nizom simbola i znakova koji se prostiru na velikim kompozicijama. Poput Drugog svijeta, koji je na određeni način fizikalni svijet (njegovu kartu) ispunjavao malenim crtežima um -jetničina života i njezinih intimnih fascinacija i stra-hova, i u novim radovima Ana Sladetić nastavlja li -kovno istraživanje koje se temelji na intimizmu, ali ne iscrpljuje se u egocentričnom nabrajanju vlastitih dojmova, nego dopušta svijetu oko nje da prodre u njezinu svijest. Njezini crteži samo su odraz te proživljenosti. Oni se ne zaustavljaju na verizmu, nasuprot kojem vrednuju slobodne linije i likovnu igru; ne zadovoljavaju se autobiografijom, nego do -datno pokušavaju fikcionalizirati svaki detalj autoričina života (u, ponekad, fantastičnim bićima, strojevima ili samo teksturama) kako bi se njezinu djelu dala viša, dublja, psihološka vjerodostojnost. Možda je u tom smislu paradigmatski rad nastao za vrijeme njezina boravka u Kini (2011) – frotaž tekstu- re kamena s Velikog zida (video, kao i frotaži, izlože- ni su na ovoj izložbi). Zid je barijera koja je važna, dijeli imanja, kao i mene od drugoga. Otisci epiderme zida preneseni su u galeriju kao dio sjećanja na izlet u Ki nu, na vlastiti doživljaj tog drevnog spomenika: okamenjene fortifikacije koja je danas tek simbol biv- še veličine Nebeskog Carstva i izvor turističkih pri-ho da Narodne Republike. Susret autorice s nečim toliko fizički velikim bio je tako tipičan za nju – ona ga je pokušala pounutriti, prisvojiti, obgrliti u sebe, obu hvatiti svojom sviješću i Zid i Kinu i ostatak svijeta.Tako triptih Visine – Širine – Dubine nastavlja umjet-ni čino osvajanje fizikalnog prostora. Rađeni (kao i Drugi svijet) tušem na papiru, crteži podsjećaju na čipkast vez, elementarni grafizam koji podaje za in-teresiranom gledatelju niz detalja. Na bijelim plohama komponirani su mali crteži oblaka, bacila, životinja, biljaka i građevina, kao i posve apstraktnih krivulja, likova, struktura. Oni zajedno tvore teksture različitih gustoća koje djeluju u kombinacijama crnog i bijelog, u kontrastu pomno komponiranu po površini. Prostor, ovaj put ne neki konkretan (kao što su Kina, ili Svijet), nego njegove apstraktne koordinate, dan je u crtežu

koji na nas prenosi autoričinu fascinaciju svijetom oko sebe u svoj punoći doživljaja. Iovis omnia plena, rekao bi Vergilije o toj punoći svijeta (zanimljiva je koincidencija da se Leibniz, filozof iz 17. stoljeća, istim stihom koristio kada je pisao o kineskoj filozofiji i duhovnosti). Cilj je umjetnice ispunjavati svijet sobom i istovremeno sudjelovati u već ispunjenu svijetu i interpretirati ga crtežom. Sličan učinak postiže i veliki crtež Blijedi zapisi / Pročitano i zaboravljeno. U njemu autorica prenosi njoj važne biblijske poruke u jednakom nizu oblika, stvorenja, likova, mrlja, koji su ponekad gušći i sitnijega crteža, ponekad naneseni u debljim tamnim linijama. Igra tekstura i na ovom radu igra je rasta imaginacije, forme, crteža, koji tek na prvi pogled djeluje neobuzdano, ali je vrlo usmjeren i kultiviran umjetničinim talentom, odnosno osjećajem mjere i postizanjem kontrastnih i drugih efekata.Grafike Gdje je _ dom? izložene u lightboxovima koje posjetitelj može paliti i gasiti i koje s obzirom na to mijenjaju sadržaj također su proistekle iz autoričina iskustva. Riječ je o kombiniranoj grafičkoj tehnici (bakropis – visoki bakropis – digitalni tisak), koja po -stiže efekte pod svjetlom. Na njima se vide kuća i nje zin okoliš, osoba neodređena spola i stambena zgrada, a mijenjanjem stanja svjetla mijenja se i is -puna kontura tih likova. Radovi su nadahnuti si tu-acijom iz rata, kada je umjetnica bila prisiljena s obitelji napustiti kuću u kojoj su živjeli i preseliti se u veći grad. Ta osobna eneida, svjedočenje uništenja doma i traženja novoga s obitelji prikazana je bez patetike i pokušaja da se ukaže na nešto više od svoga dubinskog doživljaja. I tu je važan element zida, barijere koja dijeli privatno i javno, osobno i društveno. To je zid kuće, ali i zid pred kojim stoji osoba (što podsjeća na dramatičan trenutak strijeljanja), zid srušena objekta koji se drži u zraku lišen smisla, ili zid u stambenoj zgradi, suvremenoj insuli, koji je tanka barijera međususjedskoj privatnosti. Uvjerljivost grafika Ana Sladetić postiže velikim poznavanjem crteža očitim u brojnim minuciozno izvedenim de taljima kao i sigurnoj liniji (godova u drvetu, vegetacije). I ovi radovi djeluju poput čipke, crteža gusta i sažeta, s pričom koja je iz njih razvidna, ali nenametljiva.

Once again are presented to us the new creations of the multi-talented Croatian artist, academic print-maker Ana Sladetić. The author of the works gives us insight to her own intimacies with a variety of signs ands symbols that are spread out throughout large compositions. As with Another World, which in a specific manner filled out the physical world with small depictions of the artist’s life and her intimate fascinations and fears, in her new works Ana Sladetić still continues her visual journey based on intimacies, but does not egocentrically make a list of her own impressions; this time she rather lets the world around her break through her consciousness. Her pictures are a reflection of this experience. They

don’t just stop at verismo, against which they are valued by free linearity and visual games; they aren’t just satisfied with an autobiography, rather they try to fictionalize every detail of the author’s life (so -metimes turning them into fantastic creatures, ma -chines or just textures), so that her work is given a deeper, psychological credibility. Perhaps the paradigm for this work arose during her stay in China (2011) - it includes a frottage from the texture of a rock from the Great Wall of China (a video of the process, as are the frottages, is displayed at the exhibiton). The wall is the barrier that makes a difference, divides ownership, me from them. The prints of the wall’s epidermis were taken to the gallery as part of the memory of the trip to China, as part if the experience of that ancient monument: the fossilized fortress which is today just a symbol of the size of the former Celestial Empire and the source of the touristic revenue of the People’s Re -public. The author’s encounter with some so phy si-cally big was so typical of her- she tried to ‘in ter-nalize’ it, to appropriate it, to embrace it, to include

it in her conscience- the Wall, China and the rest of the world. Ana Sladetić’s tryptich Heights - Widths – Depths continues the journey of the artistic conquering of physical space. Drawn with pen and ink on paper (as was Another World), the drawings are reminiscent of a lacey embroidery, a basic graphic element which gives an interested viewer a series of details. Small drawings of clouds, bacilli, animals, plants, buildings, as well as completely abstract curves, characters and structures, are all composed on white surfaces. Together they create textures of varying densities which operate in combinations of black and white, which in contrast are carefully composed on the surface. The author’s fascination with the world around her is transferred to us in the fullness of her actual experience through a space that is absract- not real or tangible (like the Great Wall or China). Iovis omnia plena- something Vergil would have said about this fullness of the world (it is interesting that 17th century philosopher used that same phrase when writing about Chinese philosophy and spi ri-tuality). This artist’s goal is to fill the world with her-self and at the same time participate in a world al -ready full, and interpretate it through drawing. Her large drawing Fading recordings/Read and forgotten have a similar outcome. The artist uses her drawing to transfer Biblical messages that are important to her; she does this using shapes, creations, characters, smudges in similar series that are drawn in con den-sed formations using thin lines, or sometimes drawn in denser, darker lines. The use of textures seen on this work is a sign of the growth of ima gina tion, form and drawing- which at first glance appears restless, but is actually very focused and a cultivation of ar -tistic talent, that is, the sense for measurement and

the achievement of contrasting and different effects. The series of prints Where is _ home? that are displayed in lightboxes which visitors to the exhibition can turn on or off, considering that’s an action that changes their content, are also the aftermath of the author’s personal experiences. This has to do with a combination of graphic techniques (copper etching – high copper etching – digital print), which achieves certain effects when exposed to light. One can see on these prints a house and its surroundings, a per-son of no specified sex and a building, and when the state of light is changed, the contour/state of the characters in the print is changed as well. The works are inspired by the wartime situation, when the author and her family were forced to move from their home into a bigger city. This personal Eneida, the witnessing of the destruction of one’s home and the search of a new one with one’s family is shown without seeming pathetic and depicts something more than one’s inner perception. This is where the element of the wall is important, the barrier that divides private and public, personal and social. This is wall of a house, but also a wall that in front of stands a person (which is reminiscent of the dramatic moment of a shooting), a wall of a devastated object that hangs in the air void of meaning, or a wall in a building, a contemporary ‘insuli’, which is the thin barrier between neighbourly privacy. The persua-siveness of Ana Sladetić’s graphics is achieved by her knowledge of drawing shown by the numerous meticulously executed details and in the security of her linear work (tree rings in wood, vegetation). The- se works also appear like lace, drawings of something dense and compact, with a story that is evident in each one, but a story that is unobtrusive.

životoPis Ana Sladetić rođena je 4. rujna 1985. u Vukovaru. Godine 2009. diplo mirala je na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, odsjek grafike, u klasi prof. Zlatka Tiš lja ra. Godine 2004. maturirala je na Školi za tekstil, dizajn i primijenjene umjetnosti u Osijeku, odjel grafike. Trenutno pohađa poslijediplomski doktorski studij slikarstva na Akade miji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, pod mentorstvom prof. Ante Rašić. Članica je HDLU-a, HDD-a, ULUS-a, 21C ICAA-a (21C International Creative Artists Asso cia-tion) i El Kordy.

biograPhY She was born on 4th September 1985 in Vukovar. Graduated 2009 from the Academy of Fine Arts (MA) in Zagreb, Department of Graphics, in class of prof. Z. Tišljar. Graduated 2004 from School for Textile, Design and Fine Arts in Osijek, Department of Graphics. She is currently at postgraduate doctoral studies (PhD) at Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, mentor prof. Ante Rašić. She is member of HDLU (Croatian Association of Artists), 21C ICAA (21C International Creative Artists Association), HDD (Croatian Association of Design) and ULUS (Samobor Association of Artists).
