WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
HOW TO PREPARE STUDENTS

appropriate referencing for History • Provide students with experience of presenting historical
information/learning orally
... encourage an enthusiastic attitude towards the subject ... and towards learning.
Ensure that students understand that by choosing to come to university they are entering into a transactional educational process that requires them to be active, engaged, increasingly independent learners — that scepticism and curiosity are valued — that there are no ‘right’ answers — and remind your students that historians read for their degrees. Every hour of contact time should be matched by at least 2-3 hours of independent study

The Year One Core module has 4 hrs/wk contact time comprising of lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials. Optional modules have 2hrs/wk of contact time.
Each History module lasts c.28 weeks. Contact time is 2–4 hours per week over three terms.
