• During the ancient times in India, day and night were measured in ghadi instead of hours and minutes.

Cho Ghadi:
• The word cho means ‘four’. Chokhum (four corners) Chokhu’nt (all around) Chogannu (four times)
• Choghadiyun means ‘four ghadis

Division of the day:
• The whole of the day and night is divided in time zones of 8 pahors – each being equal to 3 hours.

• Each ghadi is divided into 60 pals
• Each pal is divided into 30 Kshans

• Furthermore, a day is also divided into 8 parts. The first part starts with the sunrise on that day, and last part ending on sunset on that day.
• Similarly, there are 8 parts starting with sunset of current day and ending at sunrise next day.

• Shubh (auspicious) Thursday
• Laabh (benefit) Friday

• Rog (disease) Wednesday

• Udvegh (fear) Tuesday
• Amrut, Shubh and Labh are considered the Best Choghadiya's (Time Period)
• Chal is considered as Good Choghadiyu (Time Period)
• Udveg, Kal and Rog is considered inauspicious

• The Choghadia ginans are rich in symbolism drawn from the spiritual and cultural milieu of Indian Subcontinent.
• It played a vital role in early stages of our community. It had grown a strong feeling of brotherhood and a measure of harmony in the community.
