"Each summer, college students across the country get a taste of the real world by

participating in internships. It's worth it for companies to put time and effort into developing

a summer student program that benefits your business. This worthy investment can help

reduce overhead and boost productivity. Summer internships are usually eight to twelve

weeks long and can be full or part time. These short term experiences provide a real insight

into what it¶s actually like working in a particular job or career field.

As Internships are work-related learning experiences that provide an opportunity for students

to gain important knowledge and skills in a career related field.

As internships is one of the ways to get connected with the organization you are working

under. Academic knowledge contributes a lot but when it comes for the field job or the

practical work, we really need to work hard. Academic knowledge contributes when we need

to frame questions, when we need to make formats, pie charts etc. But when it comes for

practical work, experience matters a lot. Day 1 when i visited one of the respondents, my

confidence was bit low. As this process keep on going my confidence level started growing

up.

Practical work teaches us the real experience of doing the things. But the experience can be better when one have good academic knowledge.

As i started my internship on 2010-07-30 at connect. First week of the training was not so busy, as training was given regarding the company knowledge. Mr. Vishal negi sir directed

me what to do n how to do. Project on market share of the company was given to me. As i

started working on the project, the first task was to collect information regarding the use of

which service provider. For this i made a format as shown below.

As to inquire about the present service provider, i have to ask questions like (which service

provider connection you are using, how many lines you are using, if broadband then which

service provider, approx bill of the month, are you satisfied with the service, any future

expansion plan, etc) to the respondents. I covered Sector 17, 34, 22, 9, 35 for my project

report.

As when i covered all the sectors given to me, it was easy for me to take out the market share

of the company based on the total respondents done. Respondents which i covered include

Small scale industries, corporate offices, educational institutes, etc.

Method of Data Collection:

Primary data collection method used.

Primary Data:

For collecting primary data I used a Format which was filled by me while collecting the

data.

Sampling plan:

The sampling plan was designed after deciding about the sampling unit and sampling size. I

choose convenient sampling method to choose the respondent samples.

Sampling Unit:

The sampling method used for the above research problem will be convenient sampling. The

sampling area in chandigarh.

Statistical tools:

Pie charts have been used to understand and interpret the various findings of the survey and

market research and to conclude of analysis in very precise manner. Techniques of Pie charts,

Tabulation and Cross tabulation are used for interpretation.

Sample size:

Keeping in view the time and resources available for the study, it was decided to restrict thesample size to 50 respondents. For drawing the sample convenient judgmental sampling has

been used to save time and to meet my objectives.

As what we learn through academic knowledge, contributes a lot when working in an

organization. Academic knowledge more of us guides, what to do, when to do and how to do

in an organisation. Academic knowledge guides us how management skills can be applied in

performing activity. But when activity is performed in real, it is the only experience which

makes you perfect. While performing activity many hurdles comes like, rude customer,

wrong Question, Irritating Customer at that point of time only skills helps out.

While doing a survey, person needs be clam, polite, and with positive attitude. As a person

interact with different types of respondents. All respondents comes with different questions,

believes and different mindset. In this types of situation, experience in performing activity

helps out not only the knowledge.
