IoT Security Concerns, What You Need to Know
What could an unfriendly person do to your business if they had access to your building control systems?
There appears to be a widespread lack of basic security on Internet-facing facility monitoring and control devices.
Censys - is a search engine for connected devices
BACnet and Modbus – common control system protocols that have no meaningful security feature
IoT Security is Nightmare
IoT Security Concerns, What You Need to Know
Example One BACNET and MOBUS Vulnerability
Devices are browse able and appears to be editable. No authentication required.
IoT Security Concerns, What You Need to Know
Example – Control system web interfaces
Liebert
HVAC DeviceWeb page accessible on
the Internet. Easily found
by Censys scan of the
Internet
Login page has no
encryption to protect the
password in transit across
the Internet
IoT Security Concerns, What You Need to Know
Example three – IoT Security is a nightmare
Shipped with a hardcoded user account and password
Video doorbell allowed access to the associated Wi-Fi password
Infected with malware whichenabled access confidential data
IoT Security Concerns, What You Need to Know
