Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences, the unique centre of its kind established to promote advanced research in plant conservation is organizing a national seminar on Plant Breeding,

rd thBiotechnology and Conservation from 3 to 5 December, 2015 in collaboration with Gregor Mendel Foundation, an academic foundation functioning in the University of Calicut from 1991 onwards for furthering research and studies in the frontier areas of Biology.

The venue: The venue of the seminar is Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences situated in the historic city of Kozhikode (Calicut). The location is panoramic with thick tropical vegetation. The climate in the area in December is very pleasant. Calicut is well connected to different parts of the country by road, rail and air traffic.

The theme: The broad theme of the seminar is Plant Breeding, Biotechnology and Conservation. There will be separate sessions with emphasis on Plant Breeding, Plant Biotechnology and Conservation with particular reference to flowering as well as non-flowering plants.

Highlights: Invited lectures on the frontier areas of the above theme will be the major attraction of the seminar.

Contributed papers: Researchers in the above areas of research are invited to contribute research/review papers for oral/poster presentation in the seminar. Due consideration will be given to young researchers.

Publication of abstracts and proceedings: The abstracts and proceedings of the papers, both invited and contributed will be published without delay and the same will be distributed to all the registered participants.

Registration: Registration fee: Rs. 1000/- (payable as DD or multicity cheque drawn in favour of the Director, Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences payable at Kozhikode.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be arranged to the participants based on their requests in hotels of their choice. Kozhikode has five star, three star and budget class accommodation facility in the city and suburbs. Subsidized accommodation will be provided to needy participants subject to availability and at the rates applicable.
