  • PEBAX POWERED® has become a world famous sports brand – synonymous with premium performance and ultra light weight.

SPORTS, OPTICS, CONSUMER GOODS & HEALTHCARE

Athletes across the globe continue to stretch their limits with Pebax Powered® shoes, boots, skis, and ski boots. World records along with the definition of what can be achieved are being re-written day after day. Pebax® resins have become the gold standard for lightweight and outstanding energy return – regardless of

temperature. And for those athletes who want to commit themselves to a lower carbon footprint, biobased Pebax® Rnew® grades offer the same premium performance while being manufactured in part from oils derived from the castor bean plant.Similarly, our biobased Rilsan® Clear resins offer

extreme lightweight and resistance properties for the optics/eyewear market. For wearable and/orconnected fitness & health devices, Pebax® resins again shine due to their outstanding lightness and flexural fatigue resistance. For even more durability, chemical and UV resistance, consider Kynar® flexible fluoropolymers.

  • There are more smart devices than there are people in the world. The number of wearable devices on the planet is expected to triple in the next few years – driven mainly by new applications in healthcare, military, homeland security and sports. Globally, 30,000 patents have been filed between 2012 and 2015.

    ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC SOLUTIONS

The rapid development of electronic devices is further accelerated by breakthroughs in big data, cloud computing, and materials science. Designers ask for materials that do things that until recently, seemed impossible. They look to Pebax® resins - the ultimate "polymers in motion" - for an outstanding combination of flexural fatigue resistance and lightness. Designers also ask for outstanding durability – resistance to long-term weathering, resistance to

chemicals, and resistance to wear and tear. Few polymers in the world can match these requirements more than Kynar® fluoropolymers. Their long legacy of performance in some of the world’s most extreme and most corrosive environments makes them well suited for the new challenges of tomorrow’s technology. Their ease of processing and their outstanding flameand smoke propertiesfurther exemplifies them as world leading candidates for the most demanding

applications. The electronics market also has strong requirements for antistatic stability. An unwanted spark can destroy the most sensitive components. Designers look to our Pebax® resins (specific grades) for permanent antistatic properties. With a wide portfolio of compatible resins and the ability to offer colors other than black, these additives can make a huge difference.

  • The Pebax® elastomer family includes several grades that are breathable – i.e. permeable to water vapor while acting as a permanent barrier to liquid water. They achieve this breathability by channeling water vapor on a molecular level through microscopic hydrophilic channels.

    CHEMICAL INDUSTRY & GENERAL INDUSTRIAL

Design engineers in chemical plants demand it all – ease of processing, extreme chemical resistance, ultra high purity, radiation resistance, and long service life. Kynar® fluoropolymers have been specified in such applications throughout the world.Whether processing water or aggressive chemicals such as halogenated acids, Kynar® resins offer an excellent solution for

fittings, pipes, stock shapes, filaments, foams and many other forms. At the other end of the spectrum, Kynar® resins are chosen as processing aids for the extrusion of high volume commodity resins. Their selective compatibility allows them to act as die lubricants, which enables higher throughput speeds and significantly higherquality. All three polymer families are used in an enormous

variety of tubing and hose applications – for food and beverage, fuel management, high purity water, chemical transport, and paint spray applicators. The list is almost endless. Our range of permanent antistatic solutions offers an uncompromised combination of static dissipation and broad compatibility withother resins.

  • The Kynar 500® and Kynar Aquatec® trademark licensed coatings have become synonymous with quality and high performance.

    CONSTRUCTION COATINGS

For over 50 years, coatings based upon Kynar 500® PVDF resin have been protecting some of the world’s most iconic buildings. From Chicago to Shanghai and beyond, these coatings have gained widespread recognition by the global community of architects and specifiers due in large part to Arkema’s strict trademark licensing program.

These coatings are factory applied by coil coating or spray and baked to form highly durable finishes that offer tremendous long-term resistance to the harmful rays of the sun. To complement Kynar 500® technology, Arkema also offers a range of aqueous emulsion resins under the Kynar Aquatec® brand name.Waterborne coatings

based upon Kynar Aquatec® emulsions allow the formulation of low VOC field or factory applied coatings that offer essentially the equivalent weather resistance as Kynar 500® PVDF but without the need for baking. Typical applications include restoration coatings, cool roof coatings, and coatings applied on cementitious, plastic and wood substrates.
