Ramazan Mubarak to you and your family members. May this month bring Amaan, Aa�iyat and Barakaat to you all.

Anjuman-I-Islamisthelargestminorityeducationalandsocialinstitutionfocusingontheverymarginalizedsectionsofsocietyandisall-inclusiveinimplementingitsobjectives.Itmanagesabout97institutionsandatanyonepointoftimeitprovideseducationtoapproximatelyonelakhstudentswithadministrativeandteachingstaffof3000toensurequalityeducationtothese students. Brief of Anjuman-i-Islam is attached. Anjuman-I-Islam is registered as a Company under Section 8 of theCompaniesActandisalsoregisteredasatrustundertheBombayPublicTrustAct,1950.

Anjuman-I-Islam,worksontwoobjectives,providinggoodeducationatleastpossiblecost,andensuringthatthepoorestofpoorhastheopportunitytogeteducated.Towardstheseobjectives,wehavebeenkeepingourcostsundercontrol,atthesametimeensuring that our teaching faculties are well equipped with modern tools to impart education of the highest standard.

ManyofourstudentscomefromthepoorestofthepoorstrataofSocietyandtoensureeducationforthem,weraiseresourcesthroughgovernmentscholarshipsandprivatedonationsfortheirfees,uniforms,books,transportation,etc.Intheyear2019-20,weraisedadecentsumfromvarioussourcesbutevenafterthis,therewasashortfallwhichwejustcouldnotmeet.

Anjuman-I-Islamisrunningasigni�icantandimportantprojectcalled‘SAHARAproject’.Werequestyoutoconsidersupportingusinthisproject.Primarilythisprojectisaddressingtheneedsofthousandsofverypoorstudents,mostly�irstgenerationlearners,ofpre-primarytoprofessionalcolleges,whodonothaveanywherewithalforpaymentofthefees,basicneeds,books,educationalmaterial,uniforms,transportationcostandothernecessaryskillstoliveabetterlifeaseffectivemembersofthesociety.TherearetwoSAHARAUnits locatedatMahimandSAHARASponsorshipProjectandSkillDevelopmentCentreatMumbra.Theseunitsaddresstheneedsofthesestudents.Inaddition,also,thereisaSAHARAUnitforDestituteWomenandChildWelfare,whichaddressestheneedsofdestitutewomen,divorcedmothers,victimsofbrokenhomesandthemarginalizedbyprovidingcounsellingandrunningshorttermoccupationalcourseswhichhelpthemtoearnalivingandmakesthemself-sustainable.

Weruntwoorphanagesforgirls,atMumbaiandPune,wherethegirlsarewelllookedafter,educatedand�inallysettledinmarriageafterrigorousinquiriestoensureandsafeguardtheirfuture.

Withthecurrentlockdown,manyofthelabourers,dailywageearners,smallbusinesspeople,marginalemployees,havelosttheirlivelihoodandareindire�inancialcondition.Thus,intheyear2020-21,weanticipatethatthestudentsneeding�inancialhelpwillrisesubstantially.

ItisunderthesecircumstancesthatIamapproachingyouwitharequesttoconsiderAnjuman-I-Islamasabene�iciaryofyourgenerousdonation/ZakatthisRamazan. Needlesstoaddyourcontributionsmadeupto30thJune,2020wouldbeeligibleforexemptionunderSection80Gforthe�inancialyear19-20.

Anjuman-I-Islamhasoveraperiodoftimesinceitsinceptiongrownbyleapsandbounds,continuingtogivequalityeducationto

itsstudents.Todayitruns97institutionsandatanyonetimeapproximatelyonelakhstudentsderivebene�itfromtheeducation

impartedbytheseinstitutions.Ithasabout3000teachingandadministrativestaffwhomaketheseeffortsasuccess.

Anjuman-I-Islamwasfoundedintheyear1874inBombay(nowMumbai),byasmallgroupofprogressiveMuslimsledbyJustice

BadruddinTyabji,thethirdPresidentofIndianNationalCongressandtheFirstIndianChiefJusticeofBombayHighCourt.Those

wereturbulenttimes,whenwavesoffreedomandnationalismweresweepingthroughthecountryandthevisionary,Justice

BadruddinTyabjiunderstoodthateducationwasthekeytobuildingthenation’sprideandrestoringitserstwhileglory.Itwas

alsothebeginningofamovementtosupporttheMuslimcommunity’sadvanceineducationandsocialstanding.

Anjuman-I-Islam began with one school and has grown in size and scope to encompass over 97 educational and other

institutions,rangingfrompre-primaryschoolstograduate,postgraduateandresearchcenters.Subjectsattheseinstitutions

span the gamut of educational disciplines, from engineering and business management to architecture, pharmacy, law,

medicineandhotelmanagementandcatering.

Anjuman-I-Islamisinthefrontlineforempowermentofwomen.The�irstschoolforgirlswasestablishedin1939whoseprincipal

wasMs.AnnieSamson,VicePrincipalwasMrs.NajooBharucha,HeadTeacherwasMs.V.V.Parulekar.Intheyear1941itopened

itssecondschoolforgirls,atBandra,whichwasheadedbyMs.Mathai.ThisbringsouttheveryrootsofinclusivenessofAnjuman-

I-Islam.About85%ofthecurrentlyteachingstaffareladies.AmajorityofHeadsofInstitutesi.e.H.M's,Principals,Directorsare

alsoladies.

Anjuman-I-IslamisaRegisteredCompanyunderSection8ofCompany'sAct.Anjuman-I-IslamCharitiesisregisteredunder

CharityCommissionerMumbai,Registrationno.B-610(BOM)dated1/4/1953,Certi�icateofRegistrationNo.1615BB-19-399.

Though aMuslimminority organization, Anjuman-I-Islam has a clear ‘open door’ policy ofwelcoming students from all

communities–thuscontributinginnosmallmeasuretowardsnationalintegrityandnationbuilding.Currentlytheneedsof

approximatelyonelakhstudentsfromvariouscommunitiesaremetwithsincerity.Wearethankfultoanunswervingfocuson
