Annual 5k Fundraiser

The 2014-2015 5k to Build event is our largest fundraiser of the year and is fundamental in acquiring the tools needed for SCHJ’s mission of providing an educational environment where students have learning opportunities that set high expectations for academic growth, foster individual achievement, and stress character development. The enclosed is information in-tended to inform you and your company of different support opportunities.

A Choice School

Charter schools are part of a sweeping educa-tional reform that places its highest priority on providing students with a better education. Charter schools are tuition free just as tradi-tional public schools, but the funding received by charter schools is quite different. At Sebas-tian Charter Junior High, we receive state funding (minus a 5% fee to the district) but do not receive a share of the county millage tax dollars that the traditional district schools re-ceive, which amounts to approximately $200,000 for our school. As a charter school, we incur additional expenses which traditional district schools do not have. With limited capi-tal funding from the state, we are left to cover 2/3

rds of our expenses through grants, dona-

tions, and contributions.

Visit us on the web: www.SCJH.org Our new facilities with smart technology in every classroom!

We recently completed construction of the new home of Sebastian Charter Junior High. This 20,000 square foot facility offers interactive white board technology and classroom audio enhance-ment technologies which help engage students dur-ing lessons. With construction complete, we are turning our efforts now to becoming a true 21

st cen-

tury school.

At Sebastian Charter Junior High, our primary goal is to prepare our students for lifelong success. Through our previous 5K run, as well as grants from Impact 100 and the Indian River Community Foun-dation, we currently have 38 refurbished laptop computers and 53 new Chrome books for the class-rooms to share. Through the “One to One Initiative”, our current goal is to have a computer for each and every one of our 260 student to use in the class-rooms.

As you will see, our sponsorship packages allow you to market your organization to the population of Sebastian Charter Junior High as well as the gen-eral public which participates in our event.

We encourage you to peruse the enclosed infor-mation and hope that you will support our vision. Please remember, this is more than a donation; this is an investment in the future of our community.
