Length Up to 10 feet Habitats
Temperate forest Facts Location The Amur Tiger lives Sikhote-Alin
range in the Primorski and Khabarovski provinces of the Russian Far
East.Diet The tigers diet consent of deer, elk and any animal that
comes near its habitat. If no other larger pray is available it
will go after rabbits.Mating They mate all year round, and the
gestation period last about 3 to 3 1/2 months. The female gives
birth to about 2 or 4 cubs to a time but on occasion it can give
birth to as many as 6. What is being done The threat to this animal
is logging because they are cutting down the forest and and making
it that the tigers have no place to go. Another threat is poaching
it isn't as big as deforestation but it is still a reason why the
Amur Tiger is an endangered animal. There are only about 400 Amur
Tigers left in the wild so they are trying to save every last one
they can find. The WWF (world wild life fund) is monitoring the
population also, they have conservation leases that makes sure that
there will be no poaching or any other way that the population can
decline. What you could do?? One way you can help out by saving the
Amur Tiger is that you can donate money to the WWF. They will use
this money to ensure that the animals will have a place to live and
also to prevent the problem of poaching. Plus your will be a member
of the WWF. Another way you can is Join the Conservation Action
Network, where you can speak up for species and places.
