    Introduction

    AMUL formed in 1946, is a dairy co-operative

    movement in India. It is a brand name

    managed by an apex co-operative organization,

    Gujarat co-operative milk marketing federation

    ltd ( GCMMF ), Which today is jointly owned

    by some 2.6 million milk producers in Gujarat,

    India.

    Amul has been ranked amongst the top 21

    largest dairy businesses in the World as per

    the findings published by International Farm

    Comparison Network (IFCN) at the 10th IFCNDairy Conference 2009 at Stockholm during

    14th to 17th June 2009.

    Amul No 1 dairy brand in Asia-Pacific' - International Business News

    The brand Amul has not only maintained its unique position as the No 1 Indianbrand for the second consecutive year, but has also become the numero uno dairybrand in the Asia-Pacific region ahead of many international names like Kraft,Walls, Everyday etc.Not just that. The brand Amul has also bettered its ranking considerably jumpingten notches from 83rd spot last year to 73rd this year.

    In the list of the Top 1,000 Brands in Asia-Pacific, published by the MediaMagazine, the brand Amul is the only brand from the country to find this covetedconsumer recognition and is ranked as the 73rd most popular brand in the Asia-Pacific region, improving 10 notches from the last year's ranking at 83rd.

    Amul is also ranked as No 1 dairy brand, ahead of the leading food and dairybrands in the Asia-Pacific region like Kraft, Dutch Lady, Dumex, Walls, Anchor,
