ZCL Driver

Installation Manual

Introduction

This manual describes how to install an IEEE1394 board (Zenkuman PFW-85/86) driver in

Windows XP and Windows 2000. Install the IEEE1394 board driver according to the procedure for

each OS.

1. Before Starting the Installation of a Driver (Saving of Registry in File)

The contents of a registry are rewritten when a driver is installed.

To ensure the recovery during failure in installation, it is recommended to save the current registry in

a file before installation.

• Procedure for saving the current registry in a file

1. Select the [Start] button → [Specify file name and execute].

2. Enter “REGEDIT” in the name column of the “Specify file name and execute” dialog box, and

then press the [OK] button.

3. A registry editor is started.

4. Select the [Registry] menu → [Write registry file] in the registry editor.

5. Enter a file name in the file name column of a registry file’s write dialog box and then press the

[OK] button.

• Procedure for returning the current registry from the saved file

1. Select the [Start] button → [Specify file name and execute].

2. Enter “REGEDIT” in the name column of the “Specify file name and execute” dialog box, and

then press the [OK] button.

3. A registry editor is started.

4. Select the [Registry] menu → [Read registry file] in the registry editor.

5. Enter the file name, used during saving, in the file name column of a registry file’s read dialog

box and then press the [OK] button.

2. Installing the Driver [Windows XP]

1. Turn off the power of a personal computer and install PFW-85/86 in the PCI slot of the personal

computer.

2. Turn on the power of the personal computer and start Windows. (Log in under the name of an

administrator.)

3. The installed board is recognized as new hardware and a driver is installed automatically. In

this driver, software cannot be developed, so update the driver.

4. Open a device manager.

* To start a device manager, click “My computer”, “Property”, “Hardware”, and “Device

manager” sequentially. When a device manager is displayed, it is recommended to click the

“View” menu and then click the check box for “Show hidden devices”.

5. Click [Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller] in [IEEE 1394 Bus

Host Controllers] using the right button of the mouse and select [Update Driver...].

6. Select [No, not this time] and click the [Next>] button.

7. Select [Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)] and click the [Next>] button.

8. Select [Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.] and click the [Next>] button.

9. Click [Have Disk…].

10. Click the [Browse...] button.

11. Open directory [Driver] in which a driver is contained, select [ZCLDrv.inf], and click the

[Open] button.

12. Confirm the source from which a file is copied and click the [OK] button.

13. Confirm that [ZCL Driver] is selected and click the [Next>] button.

14. The installation of a driver is started.

15. The screen below is displayed. Installation is completed.

16. Confirm that a ZCL Driver is installed and validated in the device manager.

17. The installation of the driver is completed.

3. Installing the Driver [Windows 2000]

1. Turn off the power of a personal computer and install PFW-85/86 in the PCI slot of the personal

computer.

2. Turn on the power of the personal computer and start Windows. (Log in under the name of an

administrator.)

3. The installed board is recognized as new hardware and a driver is installed automatically. In

this driver, software cannot be developed, so update the driver.

4. Open a device manager.

* To start a device manager, click “My computer”, “Property”, “Hardware”, and “Device

manager” sequentially. When a device manager is displayed, it is recommended to click

the “View” menu and then click the check box for “Show hidden devices”.

5. Click [Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller] in [IEEE 1394 Bus

Host Controllers] using the right button of the mouse and select [Properties].

6. Select [Driver] and click [Update Driver...].

7. The updating of the driver is stated. Click the [Next>] button.

8. Select [Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver]

and click the [Next>] button.

9. Click [Have Disk...].

10. Click the [Browse...] button.

11. Open directory [Driver] in which a driver is contained, select [ZCLDrv.inf], and click the

[Open] button.

12. Confirm the source from which a file is copied and click the [OK] button.

13. Click the [OK] button.

14. The window in step 10 is displayed. Execute steps 10 to 12 again.

15. Confirm that [ZCL Driver] is selected and click the [Next>] button.

16. Click the [Next>] button.

17. The installation of the driver is started.

18. The screen below is displayed. Installation is completed.

19. Confirm that ZCL Driver is installed and validated in the device manager.

20. The installation of the driver is completed.

4. Uninstalling the Driver [Common in Windows XP and Windows 2000]

1. Open a device manager, click [ZCL Driver] in [Zenkuman ZCL] using the right button of the

mouse, and select [Uninstall].

2. After confirming uninstallation, click the [OK] button.

3. Confirm that [ZCL Driver] was uninstalled in the device manager.

4. Restart the system.

5. The uninstallation of the driver is completed.
