Yukari Sweeney - a renowned designer, with a distinguished style

FIELD TRIP‘Field Trip’ is a design steeped in the nostalgia of playing until late summer evenings, chasing butterflies and picking clovers in clumps of wildflowers, before running home through grassy paths of tree dappled sunlight.

WOODLANDIn ‘Woodland’, we take a trip down memory lane- wild rabbits and pheasants roam familiar groves and the snap of twigs as we walk down a well-trodden lane makes us feel instantly at ease.

YSD London is a surface design company made up of a close-knit team of family and friends. They came about after Yukari, the head designer, finished her training at Eley Kishimoto and Paul Smith in 2008.

YSD London specialise in wallpapers, cushions, lampshades and home accessories. Their ethos is that anything with a surface can be designed on.

Throughout their time as a studio YSD London have worked with various department stores nationwide in the UK on collaborations for the house and home. Their recent work in Japan has seen them working in many new ventures, including bento boxes, paint collections, custom wall stickers, indoor rugs and will soon extend out to traditional Japanese craftsmanship items in the near future.

Yukari’s work has always been centred on taking a traditional concept and adding a little eccentricity. For example, cowboys and bucking broncos populate a heritage toile, and delicate damasks in sugary hues reveal themselves to be formed entirely from teacups and jelly moulds. Her sense of humour and curiosity always show through in her work.
