Centrally located in the heart of the county, Belleville is the Republic County Seat, home to one of the only art-deco courthouses in Kansas, which is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Belleville has a unique business district—revitalized through the Belleville Main Street Program with its designation of a Kansas Main Street Community, a superior school system, as well as state-of-the-art healthcare facilities. Belleville is home to the world’s fastest half-mile dirt track, the
Belleville High Banks.

Courtland is an active community that takes pride in maintaining its small town lifestyle. Courtland’s supportive business district includes a restored Courtland Arts Center, Soul Sister Ceramics, Pinky’s Bar & Grill, and more. Its rich agriculture heritage is evident with the citizen’s strong work ethic. Community members renovate downtown buildings and organize events
under Courtland Pride Club that is part of the Kansas PRIDE designation.
CUBA >> City Office 785-729-3861 | Pop. 145Cuba is located just off of Highway 36 in eastern Republic County. Cuba citizens embrace their rich Czech heritage with everything from everyday cooking to annual festivals. Cuba was featured in the National Geographic Magazine as a photo spread entitled 30 years of Living, thanks to Belleville native, photographer Jim Richardson. MUNDEN >> City Office 785-987-5470 | Pop. 93Munden is a city in Republic County. Munden was named after John Munden, owner of the land on which the town is built and trustee for Jane Ann Stephens, is located on the north line of Fairview township. It’s founders and early residents were from Czechoslavkian and Bohemian decent. Munden still honors their heritage with annual gatherings and celebrations. Munden is also home to ProHoe
garden, fire and tillage tools.
NARKA >> City Office 785-358-2510 | Pop. 86Narka is located in the northeastern quarter of Republic County. The community was named for a daughter of a railroad official. Like other eastern Republic County cities, Narka has many residents with Bohemian and Czechloslavakian decendants who came to the area to farm. Narka is also well-known for an out-of-this-world water tower that resembles a space ship.
REPUBLIC >> City Office 785-361-2130 | Pop. 108Republic is a city in Republic County located near the Republican River. The community was named for the Pawnee Republic Native Americans. The Pawnee had a large settlement near Republic. After a local farmer stumbled upon Native American artifacts while working a field. The area was preserved and the Pawnee Indian Museum was created. If you are in Republic on the second Saturday of the month, make sure to catch the Second Saturday Cafe at the Republic School Building or anytime downtown at the Rip City Inn,
where every Wednesday night is hamburger night!
