Our home-land is the land of beauty and the land of rich cultural and historical heritage.
In addition, we have fertile fields, plateaus, lakes, rivers, deserts, coasts, glaciers and the towering peaks.
Here we are going to have a look at the lakes of our country that are known all over the world.

Ansoo Lake is a high-altitude lake (4,137 metres) in the Kaghan Valley.
It is near Malika Parbat (5290 m) in the Himalayan range.
This lake can be reached by two different routes.
First one is short but steeper trek from Saiful Mulook Lake. It takes more than 12 hours for a round trip to Ansoo lake starting from lake Saiful Mulook. This trek is covered with snow in most parts of the year.

Second trek to reach Ansoo Lake starts from the village Mahandri, which is 40 km south to Naran , and it goes through Manoor Gali and Kach Gali. This trek takes at least three days of 12 hour trekking to get to Ansoo Lake.

Chitta Katha Lake A very beautiful lake in Neelum Valley, Azad Kashmir, at height of 4000 m.
10 hours drive from Muzaffar Abad to reacha Keil (a small town).
6 hours treking from Keil to this beautiful lake.
It is only acessible in June and July.

Dudipat-Sar Dudipat-sar or Dudipat Lake is a lake encircled by snow clad peaks in extreme north of the Kaghan Valley.
It is at a height of 3860 m.
The word "dudi" means white and "sar" means lake. This name has been given to the lake because of the white color of snow at surrounding peaks.

Haramosh Lake This lake is a mountain wonderland.
It is surrounded by 6 mountains of height more than 5000m.
It is at a height of 3300m.
5 hours drive from Gilgit to Dasu 20 hours treking from Dasu to Haramosh lake.

Kalri Lake predominantly called as Keenjhar Lake is located in Thattha, Sindh, Pakistan.
Keenjhar Lake is the 2nd largest freshwater lake in Pakistan and 5th largest in Asia.
It plays a substantial ecological role as more than 3,40,000 water-birds, migrating from Russia, Siberia and Magnolia stay here for the winter.
Keenjhar LakeNoori of Sindhi legendary story Noori Jam Tamachi is burried in the middle ok lake. Every year, hundreds of devotees visit the shrine.

Ratti Gali Lake
Ratti Gali Lake is near Ratti Gali Pass which connects Neelum valley to Kaghan Valley.
It is at a height of 4140 m.
12 hours drive from Muzaffar Abad to Dowrian village. 5 hours treking from Dowrian to Ratti Gali Lake.

Rush Lake
It is world’s 20th and Pakistan’s highest lake situated in Nagar Valley near Hunza.
This lake attracts the highest number of foreign visitors in Pakistan.
It is at height of 5098 m.
It is surrounded by Rush Pari Peak , Raka-poshi and Golden Peak.

Lake Saiful Muluk
Pakistan’s most famous lake “Lake Saiful Muluk” is located at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley near Naran.
It attracts more tourists than any other lake of Pakistan.
It is at a height of 3260m. 30 minutes drive from Naran to Lake Saiful Muluk . 150 minutes trekking from Naran Lake Saiful Muluk. It is accessible all over the year.
Saiful Muluk is also known as “Fairies Lake”.
A fairy tale called Saiful Muluk, is associated with the lake. It is the story of prince of Persia who fell in love with a fairy princess at the lake.
The impact of the lake beauty is of such extent that people believe that fairies come down to lake in full moon.

It is a mesmerizing lake at a height of 3600m in Shounter Valley, Azad Kashmir. 6 hours drive from Naran to Babu-sar village. Almost 8 hours trekking from Babu-sar village. It is called as “ The Lake of Dreams”. The trek to Lake presents a spectacular view of Nanga Parbat and Malika Parbat. Ideal months to visit: From June to September.

Sheosar Lake is situated in Deosai Plains near Sakardu and Astore. The lake is at an elevation of 4,142 m
(13,589 feet).
If you travel from Astore towards deosai it will be your first stop on deosai plains.
Deosai means “Land of Giant”. Deosai Plains are the 2nd highest plateaus in the world. Sheosar is accessible from Skardu in the north and the Astore Valley in the west.

Deosai is well known for its spring season when it is covered by a carpet of millions of flowers and a wide variety of butterflies. However, plains are snow-bound from October to May.

Siri Paya Lake
Siri Paya Lake is situated near Shogran in the Kaghan Valley in Pakistan. It is situated at the height of almost 3,000 m (10,000 feet). It is surrounded by Makra Peak, Malka Parbat, Moosa da Musalla and the mountains of Kashmir. The lake is accessible via Kiwai passing through Shogran through a jeep track. A stamp has been issued on this lake.
