My project

Model the ash cloud from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano over the period from 15-17 May 2010.

The objective is to see whether the Ash cloud reaches Norway.

WPS-namlist.wpsIn the namelist.wps file the amount of domains were changed to two.

The start and end dates had to be changed and the first end date has to be the end of the start date.

In this file the size of the domains are set. With the outer domain being decided by dx and dy (have to be the same)

The size of the inner domain is decided by the I and J parent start

Ref long and Ref lat have to be changed to point out the centre of my domain

Running WPSThen I run geogrid.exe Then run NCView to check both domains are the size I want them.

Like check there is no orography at the edges as this can stall the program.

Then I run metgrid.exe to input the meteological data to the program

Namelist.inputNamelist.input is in the directory WRFV3/test/em_real

Here the time of the run is set and again the start and end date . Only first two have to be specified as I only have two domains .

Then all the data has to match namelist.wps

Physics can also be changed here.

If the correct files are in WRF_GRIB then WRF can be run.

RIP4

To get an output from the data you need to run RIP4.

Before RIP4 is run rip_fields can be edited to change the output. Like changing colours and the meteorological information that is on each output.

Outputs-15th May

Output-16th May

Output 17th May
