CONNECTION IS WHY WE ARE HERE
AND
FOR CONNECTION TO HAPPEN
YOU HAVE TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE SEEN
AS WHO AND WHAT YOU ARE
BUT
YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO ACCEPT DEFEAT
AND THEN
PICK YOURSELF UP AND START AGAIN

THE CONNECTION PROCESS
• Does it have to pay?
• Is the time worth the effort?
• Do I need to rank my connections?
• Should I privilege diversity?
• Do I need a consistent approach?
• Am I increasing the risk of competition?
• Am I increasing my vulnerability?

ANTICIPATING CHANGE BE PREPARED TO ADJUST
– Your outlets– Your contents– Your goals
• And preferably NOT your EXPECTATIONS
SUGGESTED RECOMMENDATIONS to choose the connections best suited to your objectives
• Yield management (when & where to best sell yourself)• Qualitative assessment (keep track of efficiency levels)• Updating knowledge, know-how and skills (look, listen,
learn)
Sophie Elias-Varotsis, www.mmtc-europe.com
CONCLUSION• Our goal was not to provide recipes but offer leads for
each to explore, test, adapt and adopt to suit her aspirations.
• Multiple opportunities are there for the taking and available to one and all, private individuals and firms alike.
• Self awareness and acceptance have been emphasized as fundamental for recognition and visibility.
• Diversity, complementarity, coherence and adaptability are a must to increase one’s outreach on-line or face-to-face and all require constant monitoring to maximize their efficiency.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The greater the value we place on connecting people and actions, the greater the need to examine and engage in new forms of collaboration
