Need to make a truly anonymous survey?

The ONLY way to do this is to create an anonymous link.

But, with anonymous links…

– You cannot track the responses (so you cannot send reminders)

– You cannot use embedded data– You will tend to get a lowered response rate– You can limit who clicks the link (for example, you

can choose “prevent ballot box stuffing” or even password protect a survey. However, this does not guarantee that the password and link cannot be forwarded to others.

– This is the easiest method for publishing a survey

Can I anonymize panels?

No, not really. But… once data collection is complete, you *could* delete the email and name rows in your panels.

No personally identifiable information will be shared.

Why Panels?

• You can track responses, send reminders, and thus get a higher response rate.

• You can include embedded data that you do not have to ask. You can use embedded data in building questions (logic), distribution (mailer), or reporting.

What is a panel?

Basically, an excel spreadsheet that contains, at the very minimum, a column of emails.

Beyond that, you can include as much or as little columns/data as you like.

…age, gender, academic year, student status…

For Your Excel Sheet

• FirstName• LastName• Email• Gender• Academic Year• Major

Use false emails, though you might want to include yourself in the panel in order to do some testing.

Panels in Data Analysis

• You can include embedded data in reports• You can use the survey flow to include

embedded data when you export your data• So, if you already have the information in the

embedded data field, you do not need to ask it in a question
