Objective: IdentifyadiversecohortofstudentsthatwillbeeducatedtodesignandcreatesolutionstotheNAEGrandChallengesandgrandChallenge-likeproblems.• EachGCSPwilldeterminehowstudentselectionisbestaccomplishedwithin

themissionandcharacteroftheindividualschool.Ingeneral,studentsselectedforaGCSPshould1. beastudentingoodstanding,(asdeterminedbytheinstitution)2. becommittedtotheGrandChallenges,and3. beawareoftheimportanceofsocialandlocal&globalissues.

Objective:Acquireandintegratetheengineeringandnon-engineeringcurricular,co-curricularandextra-curricularexpertisenecessarytotackleaGrandChallengethemeorspecificGrandChallengeproblem.• The5competencies:– EachindividualGCScholar’strajectorymustbedeep, broadandcoherent intermsofitsconnectiontotheGrandChallengesandmechanismsshouldbeinplacetotrackandassessstudentperformanceoneachcomponentineachindividualprogram.

– Well-designedandwell-documentedmeta-curricularactivities.– Continuousmentorship

Objective:EnsurethematicconnectivityacrossthefiveprogramcomponentsandaGrandChallengethemeoraspecificGrandChallengeproblem.• Awarenessofunintendedconsequences,responsibleconductinresearch,andethicalconsiderationsshouldbeembeddedacrossthefivecomponents.

• ItisrecommendedthateachGCscholarselectorbeassignedaGCadvisor tomonitorstudentprogressandensurethematiccontinuityandconnectivity.

• Institutionallevel– theSteeringCommittee– ThedeananddirectoroftheinstitutionalGCSPcollectivelygovern

• Responsibilities– promotetheGCSP– recruitnewGCSPmembers(students,faculty,partners)– oversightofimplementation,individualstudentandprogrammaticassessment
