Who’s behind it?

what women make™

FounderChauncey Zalkin, is a writer, brand strategist, ethnographer, and female advocate.In 1999, she founded girlonthestreet.com, an homage to entrepreneurial ‘boot-strapping’ young women which was nominated for a Webby in 2003. Out of thisvision she developed a network of creative young women in fourteen countries totell their own story. Later, she joined the ad world as a senior brand strategist andinsights expert leading strategy on brands from Coca-Cola to Victoria’s Secretbefore moving to Paris in 2007. Since moving to Europe, she’s reported from Salonedel Mobile, Frieze Art Fair, the London Design Festival, Bread and Butter, and theback alley artisan workshops of Kyoto and Tokyo.

Her public speaking includes The Future of Interactivity in Paris, the VNU ‘WhatTeens Want’ conference, the Imagination Festival in New York and an ethnographyworkshop in Barcelona in partnership with Brain Ventures for clients such as PanRico and Gallina Blanca. Based in Barcelona since 2009, she teaches both brandstrategy and insights at the Istituto Europeo de Design and consults with Futurelab.

Her reportage has appeared in Honey, Complex, MTV News, the New York Post,Trace, Terrace, The Source, Cosmopolitan, Brandchannel.com and most recentlythe magazine of Spain’s financial paper, Comunicas.

In 2009, just under 18,000 visitors passed into the Designers Blockhall, Earls Court One.

In 2008, 9,500 visitors attended DesignersBlock at Covent Garden.

They have 35,000 relevant professionals and design enthusiasts intheir database including 4,000 journalists.

Designers Block makes use of transitional architectural spaceswhich run concurrently with international trade shows. 45 DesignShows in 13 Cities, in 10 Countries, with over 1000, Exhibitors from30 Nations.....and counting.
