POW CLUBPOW Club Members will meet on Tuesday, October 27 to finalize Fall Festival Plans. Please make plans to attend the meeting in Room 111, either at 2:30pm or 3:15pm (for 8th hour students). It is vital that you attend one of these meetings if you are working at the Fall Festival on Friday.

TEACHERS – “MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION”

It is not too late to donate $20 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to wear jeans EVERY FRIDAY, if you haven’t already donated.

YOUTH COURTStudents if you are interested in being a youth court volunteer, -pick up a application from Mr. Trice in the Guidance Office.

Youth court volunteers will prosecute, defend and serve as bailiffs and jurors in a real sentencing hearing of juvenile offenders in Shelby County.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETYAll National Honor Society Candidates: You must submit all candidate forms and applications no later than November 30, 2015.

OVERTON MARCHING BANDCongratulations to the Overton Marching Band! Last weekend the band competed in the West Memphis Marching Invitational Contest. The band received a superior rating and also won: 1st Place Percussion, 3rd Place Color Guard, and 2nd Place Band. In addition Alex White won 1st Place Drummer & Jeffrey Huddleston won the outstanding soloist award. Congratulations to these students for their hard work!!

OHS DRAMAWe have begun our “Trick or Treat so Kids can Eat” food drive. Students please bring canned or dry food items to your 5th period teacher throughout the month of October. Teachers please send down your collected food items with a student representative during lunch. Your grocery bag will be returned to you. The winning class will receive free admission to see the Monday performance of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, on November 16.

ONLINE CLASSESOnline class registration is NOW OPEN!!!!!!!Please see Ms. Osman to register for an online class during your lunch or after school.

FACING HISTORY & OURSELVESThere will be a Facing History and Ourselves Student Leadership Group meeting this Tuesday, October 27, 3rd Period in the library. Teachers will receive a list of students participating.

CLUB B.A.S.I.C.Club BASIC – the Brothers and Sisters Improvement Club will have its first meeting Tuesday, October 27 at 2:30pm in the library. All members are asked to attend. If you would like to join Club BASIC, we ask you to attend as well. Club BASIC is designed to help you improve grades, provide service hours, complete college applications and so much more.

KEY CLUBStudents and Faculty – Overton is supporting the American Cancer Society by offering students the opportunity to dress down Friday 10/30/2015. The donation is $5 and we are asked to wear pink tops & blue jean bottoms. Donations will be given to the American Cancer Society – located on Union Avenue.*Please no cuts, slits and holes in your jeans please as per Mr. Billings

FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICAFuture Teachers of America will meet in Ms. Smith’s room on Friday, 10/30/2015 at 6:50am. We are looking for all students interested in teaching, coaching and serving as professors.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!Congratulations to Charity Johnson on the performance of her award winning spoken word prize at the National Civil Rights Museum’s Freedom Award Ceremony. She received a standing ovation from over 8,000 people in attendance.

BOY’S SOCCER TEAMThere will be a brief boy’s soccer meeting in the cafeteria after school at 2:30pm – TODAY!
