FUNCTION
Arbutin is a glucosylated hydroquinone extracted from bearberry plant (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) and from different Ericaceae infloresences. Arbutin inhibits tyrosinase and thus prevents the formation of melanin. It is therefore used as a skin-lightening agent.Lactic acid such as alpha hydroxy acid, acts as penetration factor. Milk acid is stimulating the cellular exchange and the following removal of hyperchromic cells. Finally it strengthens the effectiveness of Arbutin such as complexing.
