Winter in Slovenia

Primary school Rovtarske Žibrše

Strange winter This year`s winter is

very strange. First winter was too warm. Then followed a week of severe cold. Again the sun and high temperatures. In the meantime some rain, mist and gray sky.

Finally snow, which was nice only a day or two- until it turned into icy horror.

The worst devastation in living memory

Snow and ice has paralyzed Slovenia, bringing down trees and electricity pylons, cutting power from our homes and causing millions of euros of damage.

We have no elektricity, no internet connections.

The schools have been closed.

Our winter activities

6th December St. Nicholas

The holiday season begins with the feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th.

He comes down from heaven. With him come the angels and the devils. He brings toys, fruit, sweets… or stick.

Advent time

Advent is the time of four weeks before Christmas. We made beautiful wreaths.

It is also the time when we think about our past and what we can do better in the future.

Christmas be better !

We made ornaments and Christmas cards. Then we organized an exhibition with sale. With this money we will help poorer children.

Carol singers

We went from house to house around the village, sang songs and brought happiness and blessings to the people.

Visit in a nursing home

It’s nice to be together

Its ingredients are: DOUGH: yeast, sugar, milk, butter, egg yolks, salt, flour, vanilla extract, nutmeg WALNUT FILLING : milk, sugar, honey, vanilla, egg whites, cinamonn, grated lemon peel, finely ground walnuts, a little rum

The Independence and Unity Day
