THE NATIONAL CONDITIONS OF SALE WILL APPLY SUBJECT TO THE SPECIAL CONDITIONS
OF SALE BELOW
Important to Buyers and Vendors
NOTE TO PURCHASERS - The Auctioneers do all in their power to see that the Lots are
properly described in the Catalogue from the information furnished by the Vendor(s), who
supplies such statements and is (are) alone responsible for any error or mis-statement there
may be. Any sheep in a Lot not answering the description will be subject to the following
conditions but no complaint will be entertained by the Auctioneers after Sheep have left the
pens (unless subject to Condition 2 below) and in all cases of dispute the Purchaser will be
required to keep all sheep in question subject to the allowances stated. If, under Special Circumstances (the decision as to whether the circumstances are special or not to be
decided by the Auctioneers) a Buyer is unable to examine his purchases on Sale Day, he should inform
the Auctioneers before leaving. In which case the buyer must make any complaint as to description
afterwards in writing to the Auctioneers, such complaint to be received at their Salisbury Office
together with a Veterinary report by the THIRD DAY after the fair. The Buyer to bear the cost of the
Veterinary fees. No complaint will be considered unless this condition is strictly observed.
BUYERS are however, expressly requested wherever possible to make their examination and any
Claim arising therefrom ON THE DAY OF SALE. EWES An allowance of 25% of the Selling price shall be made to the Purchaser by the Vendor for any
Ewe which does not answer the age of the Lot (unless otherwise stated at the time of sale) BUT NO
ALLOWANCE shall be made for any Ewe which may be found to be younger than the description given. Likewise an allowance of 30% of the Selling Price shall be made to the Purchaser by the Vendor for any
Ewe which is wrong in its udder having been described as good on udder (GOU) subject to verification
by the Auctioneers independent expert or supporting Veterinary Certificate. All Ewes up to (and
including) full mouth age are sold as good on tooth and udder unless otherwise stated.
REGULAR DRAFT - Ewes must be of right age, having lambed three times only, and be good on tooth
and udder.
DRAFT AND GRAZING EWES - No Warranty unless otherwise stated.
GOOD ON TOOTH AND UDDER - Ewes described thus should be correct in the mouth (ie full mouth,
no corner teeth missing) and not diseased or deformed in the Udder.
A female sheep which is not described in the catalogue or at the time of sale as in lamb, is warranted as
not being in lamb (National Conditions will apply).
RAMS All rams are sold as stock rams unless otherwise stated and are warranted to be capable of, and
effective at, natural service. This warranty is a 10 week warranty.
LAMBS Unless otherwise stated at the time of Sale a pen described as Ewe Lambs shall contain only
Ewe Lambs and a pen described as Wether shall contain only Wethers - any other pen of lambs shall
contain Ewes or Wethers or both (All male lambs must be Wethers) AN ALLOWANCE OF 25% of the
selling price shall be made to the Purchaser by the Vendor for any Wether Lamb found to be in a pen
described as Ewe Lambs. Likewise AN ALLOWANCE OF 25% of the selling price shall be made to the
Purchaser by the Vendor for any Rig or Ram Lamb found to be in any pen of lambs not so described..
These allowances shall include any expenses incurred by the Buyer for castration of any Ram Lambs or
Rigs or any other charges. BUYERS must carefully check the numbers of Sheep in each pen bought and to notify the
Auctioneers of any discrepancy before leaving the Fair Field. Shortages cannot in any
circumstances be considered once the Sheep have left the pen which they were allotted by the
Auctioneers.
VENDORS are reminded that any sheep penned in the Fair, whether sold by Auction or
Privately, are subject to normal commission charges and must, if sold Privately, be booked
through the Auctioneers Sales Office.
CENTRAL POINT RECORDING We have purchased a race reader which will be installed in the
out race of the sale ring, to help provide vendors and purchasers with the correct ear tags of
EID indentified sheep.
However we would point out that we are operating under the additional clauses to the National
Conditions of Sale as recommended by the LAA as follows –
6. Liability of the Auctioneers
The Auctioneers shall not be liable in any way for any deficiencies in either the vendor’s
tagging of his sheep nor the reading equipment being used at the CPRC in accordance
with the EID Regulations nor any reading or print out produced by the said equipment.
10. Exclusion of Animals
Any animal which is not accompanied by the correct paperwork or is not presented in
all respects in compliance with either the EID or FCI Regulations as the case may be.
FOOD CHAIN INFORMATION
Wilton is a breeding and store sheep sale so purchasers cannot assume that a food chain
information declaration will be available.
However where the correct food chain information has been supplied by the vendor the
following additional clause to the National Conditions of Sale will apply –
6. Liability of the Auctioneers
The auctioneers shall not be liable in any way for any errors, misdescription or false
declarations contained in any documentation accompanying any animal to a livestock
market including but without prejudice to the generality hereof any animal passports,
certificates or movement forms, including any livestock moving directly on from a
livestock market to an abattoir, nor, in respect of any such documentation that is
provided to them and subsequently passed on by them to one or more third parties.
10. Exclusion of Animals
Any animal which is not accompanied by the correct paperwork or is not presented in
all respects in compliance with either the EID or FCI Regulations as the case may be. 16. Liability of Vendors and Purchasers for documentation
And for the avoidance of any doubt and without prejudice to the generality of this provision this shall include any false or incorrectly completed documents relating to FCI.
18. Warranty of Title All lots are accepted for sale by the auctioneers on condition that the vendor warrants his right to sell the same. The vendor shall indemnify the auctioneers and purchaser against all actions, proceedings, claims, demands, costs, charges and expenses which they may sustain or incur by reason of any defect in the vendor’s title ‘or arising from the incorrect or false completion of any statutory or other forms’. **************************************************************************************************************
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VENDORS & PURCHASERS
All sheep must be penned by 9.30 am and SHEPHERDS MUST REMAIN WITH THEIR SHEEP until delivery by an order from the Auctioneers. No sheep to be delivered without such an order in writing. Vendors In order to avoid mistakes it will be appreciated if Vendors or their representatives eg hauliers, will inform the Staff in the Sales Office of any alterations to numbers and/or descriptions of their entries when different to the printed catalogue. Vendors of unsold lots and Purchasers are totally responsible for their stock if not cleared by 6 pm. All sheep are sold subject to the Special Conditions of Sale printed in this Catalogue. **********************************************************
Vendors wishing to water their sheep may do so using the troughs situated in the Fairground. A supply of buckets has been made available by the Auctioneers for this purpose, and may be obtained from the main Sales Office.
MLC LEVY - This Scheme does not apply

We feel it is imperative that you inspect all entries for the Fairs

SHEEP SCAB
Although Sheep Scab is no longer a notifiable disease Vendors are strongly
recommended to ensure that any Sheep that have suffered from, or are suffering
from, this disease are dipped satisfactorily to the manufacturers instructions.
MAFF still interpret animals suffering from Sheep Scab as being unfit for sale,
and will withdraw them from the Fairground. The presentation of any unfit animal
for sale may lead to a prosecution.
SHEEP TAGGING
IMPORTANT CHANGES
SHEEP IDENTIFICATION Sheep born in 2010-2012 All sheep born 2010 to 2012 must have full EID. Lambs sold in the ewe lamb section and as breeding ram lambs should have full EID (one electronic tag and a matching visual tag – individual number shown on both). Store Lambs we advise that store lambs sent from the holding of birth are identified with a single electronic slaughter tag (Showing only the flock number but containing an individual number on the chip). This will preclude the need to read and record the individual numbers but will allow full flexibility to the buyer. Manual slaughter tags are not suitable for store sheep. You can use full EID but this will mean that the individual numbers will need to be read and recorded for each pen. Sheep born or identified between 11th January 2008 and 31st December 2009 These sheep must have two identifiers. One identifier must be an ear tag and the other can be an ear tag or a tattoo (animals bearing a tattoo cannot be exported). Sheep identified before 11th January 2008 Sheep which were officially tagged with an individual animal number before 11th January 2008 do not require any further tags. Replacement Tags For animals born or identified after 31st December 2009 and identified with a matching pair of tags (one of which is electronic) If still on the holding of birth you can remove the remaining tag and apply a new set of UK tags, cross referencing it in the holding register. If no longer on the holding of birth you can either apply a like-for-like replacement or apply a new set of red
replacement tags (one of which is electronic), cross referencing again in the holding register. For Lambs identified with slaughter tags If on the holding of birth, replace with either a slaughter tag or an electronic batch tag and record that a replacement has been applied in the holding register. If no longer on the holding of birth replace with either a red slaughter tag or a red electronic slaughter tag and record the old (if known) and new replacement flock marks in the holding register. If the animal has a bolus and it’s the black tag that has been lost You will need to read the transponder number and order and apply a new identical black tag. You will also need to record that a replacement has been applied in the holding register.
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** PLEASE NOTE SUBJECT TO THE SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN
THE FRONT OF THIS CATALOGUE WE WILL BE SELLING UNDER OUR GENERAL
CONDITIONS OF SALE AS DISPLAYED IN THE SALES OFFICE. We would
particularly draw your attention to Condition 5.
