604-460-8558 info@kinderheart.ca www.kinderheart.ca We would love to give you a tour to explain what we offer. Call us today.
KinderHeart offers children enrolled in the daycare program Montessori teachings at no extra cost! Why? We believe in offering exceptional educational experiences as these early opportu-nities are one of the most influential times in a child’s development.I started KinderHeart Montessori with the goal of offering a traditional Montessori program to children residing in Pitt Meadows. It was and is extremely important to stay true to my beliefs that the child comes first and quality early education is not the exception but the “norm.” KinderHeart Montessori was born with this belief and has organically grown and matured into the program it is today.
We are proud and blessed to be reaching our 10th anniversary in 2015 and having touched and nurtured many souls in this community. KinderHeart now offers 2 preschool program locations in Pitt Meadows: Edith McDermott Elementary and Osprey Village. Both programs offer traditional Montessori teachings with trained Montessori Directress’s. In September we will also be expanding our opening and closing hours to reflect the needs of working parents.
Have you been searching for a child-focused educational centre? Are you looking for qualified, caring and committed staff?
Contact us today to entrust your child’s early education to KinderHeart.

INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL SERVICES
Coverage for the important things in life.
Maple Ridge is one of the fastest growing regions of Metro Vancouver, forecast to almost double in population and jobs by 2040.
It’s one of the reasons that the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN) named Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows 2010-2015 #5 Top Canadian Investment City and #2 Top BC Investment Town.
In analyzing investment opportunities across Canada, REIN highlighted the affordable real estate, improved
transportation access, and quality of life that Maple Ridge has to offer. “Savvy real estate investors have begun to see the long-term growth potential,” says Don Campbell, report author and Senior Analyst at REIN. “That will bring residents, business and jobs. Along with everything else, it’s a beautiful place to live for lifestyle and affordability.” The same report named Maple Ridge “the place to live for lifestyle.”
This national recognition is great news for Maple Ridge says Mayor Ernie Daykin, “To be recognized as one of the top communities in BC or Canada not just for investment but
for livability: we can take that to the bank.” And businesses are taking note: in 2014, Maple Ridge issued over 4,200 business licenses. What’s even more impressive: since 2008, Maple Ridge has issued almost 4,000 building permits worth almost $800 million. The Town Centre Investment Incentive Program has resulted in 70 projects in the Town Centre valued at $140 million, and helped attract major new businesses including Target, Thrifty Foods, Club 16, and Chances Gaming Centre.

Royal Canadian Legion Branches across Canada are gearing up for what is referred to as the “busy season” and your Maple Ridge Branch 88 is an excellent example of this. With over 2,200 members, your local Legion Branch is the largest in British Columbia and the second largest in Canada…quite a tribute to our community and you, the citizens of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Within the next few weeks, a special mailing will be going out to all members reminding them to renew their memberships early.
This is also a great time for anyone who is considering becoming a Royal Canadian Legion member. By joining, you have access to all the entertainment,
have to have previous military service to become a Legion member.
A major bonus for all members, new and old, is the opportunity to participate in the single major event Maple Ridge Branch 88 dedicates itself to each year…the Poppy Campaign leading up to Remembrance Day. In 2013, the local Poppy Campaign received a record donation of more than $72,000.00 to be used in our community. With your help as a member we hope to surpass this amount in 2014.

In September the Canadian Cancer Society Cops For Cancer Tour De Coast Team will be pedaling 900 kilometres in 9 days, which includes a trip through Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. As part of this journey, the 30 Emergency Services personnel riders from the Lower Mainland, along with a dedicated support crew, have committed themselves to a yearlong campaign to promote cancer awareness, and to fundraise for pediatric cancer research and kids programs such as the acclaimed Camp GoodTimes in Maple Ridge.
Included in our initiatives to help promote cancer awareness, each rider has chosen to adopt schools within the area they live in and/or work in and to facilitate anti-tobacco presentations to students. This
tobacco and how tobacco companies are targeting children and teenagers with deceiving packaging, to mimic the look of candy.
The Tour De Coast riders have also been working hard fundraising and continue to surpass the goals we
have each set. We have organized fundraisers at schools, held events at local Police Departments, hosted Red Surge Dinners, organized gala events, pole sits, and at our very own Maple Ridge Home Show and CountryFEST booths we achieved excellent results too. CountryFEST alone helped us raise over $10,000 towards this wonderful cause. We know we’ll have no problem meeting and exceeding our 2014 goal of $400,000.
Whenever Cops For Cancer riders host an event in Ridge Meadows it’s obvious the residents here are passionate about being home to the acclaimed Camp GoodTimes. For the people that are not familiar with Camp Goodtimes, it’s a special lakeside resort situated on Loon Lake within the UBC research forest, just to the north of Maple Ridge. All summer long this camp, funded
out hosting hundreds of kids that are either currently or have been through a cancer journey. The camp has a large staff of local volunteers including medical staff, life guards,
camp counsellors, and many more wonderful people giving of their time to make this a memorable and positive experience for all children that attend.
In order to properly recognize the hard work of Businesses, Schools, and Community Groups in the area, plus say Thank You to such a

Windy Willows Childcare
When we look at the world today we see a vast degree of change. Over the last 10 years we have become a society that can access any type of information by
more information than we ever dreamed of when we were children. Why then is it that we stop these children from learning at their own rate? Is it that we are more comfortable with the traditional learning methods we grew up with? Most education for children is too focussed on the result and not enough on the amazing process. That is until recently.
Education is changing. We are starting to see a growth in more emergent and natural choice learning. The Environmental School in Maple Ridge is one such extraordinary place, where learning is based outdoors and education is harnessed through the love of the environment and community. Why not bring this type of education for ALL children, including children of a
Windy Willows has just opened in Pitt Meadows in a heritage building, across the street from the amazing Hoffman Park forest. It promises to be an extraordinary learning experience for children ages 3-5. With all day programs ranging from 2, 3 and 5 days a week, Windy Willows will be able to harness that love
will be able to have regular exposure to natural learning through a forest as well as having an extension of the indoor classroom outdoors in the large backyard learning space. Windy Willows will be an eco-friendly educational centre with local gardening, composting, recycling and water saving programs, teaching the children early on to be conservationists and protecting sustainable sources in our community.
Ensuring your children are learning is imperative
environment. Learning through the outdoors and within the wonderful communities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, the children will gain a sense of belonging and connection to the community. There will be access to a variety of community programs as well as local parks and environmental conservation. Windy Willows hopes to bring parents into this wonderful learning world of their child through documentations, weekly learning logs and informal coffee nights.
By providing children in the early years this opportunity to learn in the fresh air, within the extraordinary magic of the forest and the playful education of the outdoor classroom, Windy Willows hopes to provide sensory stimuli to help children self-regulate and self-sooth, reducing anxiety and over stimulus. Learning in the natural world is calming, engaging and beautiful.
“To live alone and free like a tree, and in the brotherhood of a forest” - Nazim Hikmet

Don’t despair! Generally we can save the item for you. Silks are one of the strongest fi bers known and at Westridge Drycleaners we love a challenge. We’ll work on each item individually, putting it in a special mineral ‘bath’ to bring back the original feel of the fabric.
We also recommend that you never try home remedies even just for spot cleaning your silks, as you always risk
the chance of removing the colour from the garment.
So, it’s time to wear your silks again. Bring in your wrinkled, crumpled mess and let us work miracles for you. Check out the before and after photos to see the amazing results we’ve had!
If you have more questions about silk, or any other fabric, stop in and talk to us.
Have morequestions?Feel free to stop in and ask Brenda. With over 30 years of drycleaning and pressing experience she’s your fabric and drycleaning expert.
