School Day to Day
Magazine Term 3-4
2017
We were blessed with an
opportunity to serve during 2017-
at the year that marks 500 Years of
Reformation”
Our
pastors were happy to share their
understanding of what reformation
means and the five solas.
We believe that you will also be
blessed while going through short
explanations of what each sola
means.
What does 500 years of Reformation mean? The Gospel was anew discovered – justification no longer constitutes a threat (God judges me), but became liberation (God acquits me). And although many are trying to go other ways, it is still by faith in Jesus Christ that we are justified by God and may live as liberated children of God. -The Reformation rediscovered that by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ of Himself we are reconciled with God, we may live in a relationship of peace with God, we have a new obedience to serve God. That also has an impact on our relationship with our neighbor.-The Bible was translated in the vernacular. Not only some clergy but all believers could hear and understand the message of God’s grace in Jesus Christ. Today the Bible is still translated in more and more dialects, and is still changing the world every day by changing people’s hearts. The Reformers taught the cohesion in God’s Word. By knowing God, we also know ourselves. It is still the principle of the live of every believer: to know God more and more so to give Him

all the honor. Eph 2:8,9: For by such grace you have been saved through faith. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God and not the result of actions, to put a stop to all boasting.- Through following Jesus Christ in His office of Highest Prophet, Priest and King, we are also prophets, priests and kings in our daily work and living – this discovery by the Reformation directs us to be co-workers of God, every day of our lives: in our homes, at our work, at school, in church, everywhere. -Rev Hannes Breytenbach
While asked to reflect on the statement se made at the beginning of the year “My primary focus is to create conducive teaching and learning environment that is in accordance with the school vision/ mission, constitution and the South African Schools Act. Inculcate a Christian foundation in learners as written in Proverbs 22: 6 and to motivate all

foundation in learners as written in Proverbs 22: 6 and to motivate all staff at large to live according to Mathew 28. This helps all of us to grow spiritually in community that offers best educators and produces excellent results at the end of each term” Principal G Makanda The principal had the following to say: “Everything went well, nothing went out of line. Staff continued on morning devotions and this helped them to remain on track. Learners were also taught the word” Principal G Makanda

1-Sola Scriptura
It is commonly said that: temptations are more intense these days, that we ought
to look somewhere else other than the scriptures to understand ourselves, our
purpose and life in general. It is said that things and times have changed and so
should be our reasoning that people should be allowed to believe wat they want
to as long as they don’t do it at the expense of others or as long as it works for
them and that all religion, faith or belief system must be accommodated
somehow. These ideas are in line with Gods word on the contrary. Scripture
clearly discriminate any belief, faith, worship or action that is not in line with
Gods word. Let’s see from the scripture itself: “…and how from childhood you
have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you
wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by
God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good
work.” imothy : - SCRIPTURE ALONE
“Lesedi la Ditshaba” translated the
light of the nation is a Christian
school that is founded in the gospel
of Jesus Christ as revealed by the
Holy Scriptures and as contained in
the Articles of the Christian faith (i.e.
the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic
Confession and the Canons of Dordt).

2-Sola Fide-
Sola fide means that believers are declared righteous by faith alone through
Jesus Christ (Rom.3:24-26).It is by faith in Jesus Christ that our sins are forgiven.
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom.10:10).Faith is what pleases God,
without it, it is impossible to please God (He.11:6).
As we celebrate 500
years of Reformation,
we can be comforted
to know that through
the sacrifice of Christ
on the cross,
by Faith we are made
children of God. We
have peace with God.
We can talk with our
Father every day
because of what
Christ has done for us
on the cross.
We are called to live by Faith that pleases God, in our work, school and in our spiritual walk- Rev P Kgatle

serious to have fun. We are
very thankful to have them.

3-Sola Gratia
Sola gratia means 'only by grace'. It
tells us how we should approach
God: ka kgaugelo fela.
Do you think that God will bless
everyone who prays to him or offers
him something? You hear it often,
but it is wrong. Because everyone is
a sinner, God is not under any
obligation to give us anything. On
the contrary, we deserve eternal
punishment instead! You and I
cannot do anything about it.
Is obeying the law an option? No,
because God is holy and demands
perfect obedience. This is a great
shock: I am worse than I
thought!!Wait, there is a way out.
You find it in Romans 3:21: God
gives the obedience and
righteousness of Jesus Christ to
everyone who believes in him. Stop
sending in your wish lists to God.
Repent and be reconciled to God.
God accepts you, a sinner, by grace
alone. Pray, pleading only on what
Jesus has done for you. Live for
Jesus in a humble way. And praise
God for his mercy on you!!(Read
more in Romans qm16-17, Romans
2 and 3, Galatians 2:15-21, Galatians
3:23-29.)-Rev Boersma

FAREWELL
FAREWELL FAREWELL
Sadly we have to bid farewell to one of the Board
members, Mr T Moncho. Mr Moncho also served behind
the scenes as Gods instruments to keep the school
running. We thank the Lord for all is gifts and believe that
the Lord will provide someone as gifted, patient, kind and
firm as Mr Moncho was.
We also have to greet Ms F Madumo., the current Grade 2
teacher who served with passion. We will surely miss her
years of experience and expertise. The spirit is willing but
the body is weak. May the Lord grant her peace, provide
her with more wisdom and open a new door for her to
serve Him faithfully till he comes for his church.
Grade R class of 2017 – On the 3rd of November 2017 the
school celebrated and rejoiced with the Grade R learners
who will be starting the new phase, Foundation in 2018.
We thank the Lord for all the proceedings and the
outstanding work done by everyone who was involved.

4. Solus Christus
“He has delivered us from the
dominion of darkness and
transferred us to the kingdom of His
beloved Son, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sin”-
Colossians 1:13-14.
Scripture explicitly shows that no amount of charity work, prayer, church
attendance, and good works will get us to heaven or make us right with God. All
people are formed in sin and are born Gods enemies and under his wrath. No one
can be reconciled or accepted if not in Christ. It’s only in Him that we can be
forgiven. It’s only in Him that we can be redeemed; it’s only in Him that we can be
transferred from the dominion of darkness; it is only in Him that we can have life
and be called children of God.
Often we forget this. We put all efforts in making sure that our children have
money to go to school, have food, participate in the number of different activities
to show case their talents, clothes, shelter etc. All these are not wrong in
themselves however they should not be the primary goal when we deal with
children. The gospel of Christ is what must be preached daily to our children. As
much as we need the gospel as adults our children need that also.
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt
in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone... For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his
name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no
end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold
it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The
zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”Isaiah : -

Needs
Though a lot was archived in 2017, a lot more must still be done. We are thankful
for the Lord for the finances that came through school fees payments (primary
source of income), donations from our brothers and sisters in the Lord,
contributions to fund raising, constant prayers done in private and in our
knowledge, voluntary work by the Board members…It’s all because of God’s grace.
The school welcomes any form of donations which will contribute to its running.

5- Soli Deo Gloria What it means? To the ultimate glory of God alone “We are spiritually dead and legally guilty before God. If any of us is to escape hell and enjoy pleasures at God’s right hand forever, God himself will have to raise us from spiritual death and provide a way for his wrath to be absorbed and his heart to be one hundred percent for us, despite our sin. So God, in his great mercy sent Christ to bear our punishment and become our righteousness. Christ alone is our all-wrath-removing sacrifice, and Christ alone is our justifying righteousness” Ephesians 2:5. We must live our entire lives before the face of God, under the authority of God and for his glory alone. By John Piper
