Wesley,
I like to take pictures. I like animals.
I like to take pictures of animals. I like
you!
So I made a book of my favorite
animal pictures for your first birthday!
Mommy and Daddy can read it to you
and show you the pictures. Some day
you will be able to read it yourself.
I hope you like it!
With lots of love,
Your Great-Grandpa Campbell
1
This is an East African crowned crane. See his crown?
2
This is a macaw. Look at the bright colors!
3
This is a Harris Hawk.
4
A screech owl sits on the man's hand.
5
An ocelot takes
6
a nap.
7
A grey fox curls
8
up in his den.
9
Two old elephants
10
have a talk.
11
Look at the
12
BIG gorilla!
13
Shamu says, "Hello!"
14
The polar bear wants to play ball!
15
A young orangutan dreams
16
in the morning sun.
17
The tiger paces
18
back and forth.
19
This is a coatimundi.
20
A ring-tailed lemur sits in the sun.
21
This duck looks like he is doing a dance!
22
The giraffe says, "I'll bet I can lick you!"
23
The King of the Jungle
24
takes it easy.
25
Black squirrel monkeys look out of their
26
cage. They are not happy, are they?
27
See the turaco. It is a parrot-like bird from Africa.
28
This is a sable antelope.
29
Can I come
30
up and play?
31
A squirrel monkey sits on his perch.
32
Kasih, the baby orangutan.
33
A baboon sits
34
in the sun.

A mother orangutan takes
40
care of her baby.
41
This beautiful bird is a barn owl.
42
This is a mandrill. He looks like a monkey with make-up!
43
A wonderful bird is the pelican. His
44
bill can hold more than his belly can!
45
These little penguins have
46
wings but they cannot fly.
47
Your great-grandma feeds a
48
pretty bird with a red head.
49
He looks like a dragon, but
50
he is just a big lizard.
51
Look at all the seals
52
on the rocks.
53
This is a
54
sea horse.
55
This is also a sea horse, but
56
he looks more like seaweed!
57
Lots of fishes
58
in a tank.
59
A giraffe bends way down for a drink of water.
60
Hank Heron
We have a Great Blue Heron that lives on our
lake. Our neighbors have named him Hank.
Your Daddy is a baseball player, so he can tell
you where the name “Hank Heron” came from.
Hank spends a lot of time around our house,
because our neighbors like to fish, and when they
catch a small fish, they will give it to Hank.
It’s nice to have our own Big Bird in the
neighborhood!
I have taken many pictures of Hank, so here are
a bunch of them.
61
Hank, the great blue heron, in our backyard.
62
Hank eats a fish. Good for Hank. Poor fish!
63
Hank spreads his wings to get cool.
64
Hank looks mad, but he's not.
65
Peek-a-boo! I see you!
66
Hank gets a drink in our backyard.
67
Hank is a pretty
68
bird!
69
And he has very
70
big wings!
71
Hank is up on our rooftop.
