• $14 Million expansion project scheduled to begin this spring

• New Gym, Drama facility, and Academic Block

• Partnership with City of Kelowna for Neighbourhoods of Learning

1. Students select their courses2. Individual course requests are

tallied3. The overall number of sections

needed in each course are calculated (6 sections of English 10)

4. The master timetable is built based upon that number of sections for each course

5. Students are loaded into course sections based upon the choices they make in February.

6. Students wishing to change their choices at a later date may not be able to due to full classes.

• This means that …• If you chose Foods in February and you

decide in June that you would like to take Drafting you may not be able to because we staffed for the Foods class.

• Parent information night: Feb 4th

• Course selection assembly for Grade 10’s next week

• Signed course selection sheets returned for data entry: February 22nd

• The BC Graduation Program begins in grade 10.

• This means that the courses students take in their grade 10 year will become part of their permanent graduation transcript.

• Required courses for grade 10 include:• An English 10*• A Math 10*• A Science 10*• Social Studies 10• A PE 10 (Athletic Academies Included)• Planning 10(*these courses have a Provincial Exam worth 20%

of the student’s grade)

Provincial Exam Scholarships for Graduating Students are based on the results of the five Provincial Exams which all students are required to write.

•All of our students will take an English 10 course.•You may choose English 10 Honours if your average is 85% or greater.•Enrollment in English 10 Honours will be finalized based on Teacher recommendation.

•A Math 10 course is a graduation requirement.

• Apprenticeship & Workplace Math 10

• Students entering a trade or technical school

• Students who achieved less than 60% in Math 9 (recommendation from Previous Math teacher)

• Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10 (With Jump Math 10)

• Students who received less than 70% in Math 9 and plan to attend university but require additional time and support to be successful in FMPC 10

• Jump Math 10 is a ½ course support block taken in first semester

• FMPC 10 is taken in second semester

• Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10

• Students who plan to attend university in Arts or Sciences

• Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10 Honours

• Students who excel in Math and plan to attend university in Arts or Sciences

• You may choose FMPC 10 Honours if your average is 85% or greater.

• Enrollment in FMPC 10 Honours will be finalized based on Teacher recommendation.

•All of our students will take a Science 10 course with Provincial Exam.•You may choose Science 10 Honours if your average is 85% or greater.•Enrollment in Science 10 Honours will be finalized based on Teacher recommendation.

•All Students take SS 10 as it is a graduation requirement.

•Every grade 10 student must take a PE course as it is a graduation requirement.•For information on the academies please come to the special programs information night Feb 6th.

•Planning 10 is a graduation requirement.•Please make sure you choose two alternates in the event your first choice cannot be accommodated.

•Many students will continue with French 10 as their first elective.•Some BC universities require a second language 11 for entrance.
