Welcome To Your Media Center

Please follow these procedures during your visit!

1. Use your one-inch voice.

2. Focus on what you are here to do – browse, read, check-out, research…

3. If you are joining Mrs. Jones for a class, please walk to the tables with supplies on them and have a seat.

When you hear the chimes…

1. Freeze

2. Voices off

3. Listen for Directions

Check In Procedures

• Return books to circulation desk bar code label up.

• Hand any passes or notes to Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Hippensteel or Mrs. Hill.

• Either look for new books or sit at a table and wait for instructions.

• If just checking out, return to class remembering to pick up any passes.

Check Out Procedures

• Always use a shelf marker when looking for new books.

• Please leave the shelves looking as neat or better than you found them.

• Return to your classroom or find a fun place to read in the Media Center.

• Walk with your books to the circulation desk when called and form a quiet straight line (Remember, if you already have books out, you will have to wait until their return).

• Hand your books to either Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Hippensteel, or Mrs. Hill bar code label up.

Search Station Procedures

• Use OPAC to access your search.• Have a search already in mind. Know what you

are looking for.• If someone is behind you, keep it to one search.• Think about whether your search will be found

under author, title, or subject.• Write down important information (call number,

author, title) before looking on the shelf for the book.

• Escape back to first screen to prepare for the person behind you.

• If you need assistance, ask Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Hippensteel, or Mrs. Hill.
