are located on the 3rd floor in the green hallway, rooms 316 & 319.

• Most freshman-only classes are held on the 3rd floor.

• Most freshman lockers are located on the 3rd floor – some are on the 1st floor grouped together.

• You must earn 12 credits to progress to the next grade level

Involvement

• Encourage your student to get involved in at least one sport or activity at JHS this year.

• Tables are set up in the triangle with representatives from many sports and clubs.

Student Information

• All students will be expected to have their ID’s with them at all times.

• No unauthorized electronics are allowed to be used or displayed in learning environments at any time and will be confiscated if this rule is violated.

• Dress code: any head coverings including hoods, short shorts, tank tops, slippers, etc.) are not permitted at any time.

• Hats are to not be worn or displayed (visible) at any time while in the building. Hats must be put away upon entering the building. All hats will be confiscated by administration if this rule is violated.

Freshman Academy Expectations:

As a freshman at JHS, I will:

What help is available?

• 21st Century Tutoring is available in all the core subjects and some electives (Available Monday-Thursday from 3:50-4:50)

• Activity Buses will be available and leave at 5:00pm.

• Freshman Academy has a component called homeroom. During the first two weeks, Tuesdays – Thursdays, all freshman students will have a 20 minute homeroom time.

• Starting 9/7, teachers will assign students who are behind to ZAP – a MANDATORY tutoring for the first 20 minutes of lunch.

Students assigned to Z.A.P will spend the first 20

minutes of the 6th period lunch in required tutoring until the required work is

completed.

Sports Eligibility

• Every student is eligible to participate in a sport during 1st semester.

• Each student must be passing at least five classes in order to remain eligible.

• Students are required to turn in a weekly eligibility sheet and there must be no unexcused absences on their attendance report. If there are unexcused absences it must be cleared up prior to participation that week.

• Sports tutoring is available for all students during their lunch hour.
