Courses

Cost range: $90-$230.00, UCONN will bill family directly

Credits range from 3-8 Will receive a transcript from UCONN Students must register in June or September College Credit Acceptance: Each individual

college determines Why ECE & AP? (ECE: Course grade vs. AP: Exam

Grade) Each individual college determines credit

acceptance. Students must earn at least a C or better.

ECE Nuts & Bolts

Partnership between WHPS and Capital Community College

Credit bearing courses at no cost

Each course qualifies for 3-4 credits, a maximum of 15 credits can be earned.

Applications must be submitted in the fall of sophomore or junior year.

Note: Cannot apply in senior year.

All Sophomores are enrolled at no cost to the student.

Juniors are encouraged to sign up, but at the cost of $23.00

Score range 20-80

Results reviewed with Sophomores in January which helps to determine testing schedule and what test prep may be needed.

PSAT: PRACTICE SCHOLASTIC

APTITUDE TEST

10 Sections covering 3 content areas:

Critical Reading, Mathematics, Writing

Each content area has a score range 200-800, with a total possible score of 2400

1600 Scale vs. 2400 scale

Example: “UCONN 1200”

Reasoning Test

1 hour test--Usually taken immediately following course completion

Competitive Colleges often recommend/require a minimum of 2 different subject tests

How Can You Help Your

Child? Encourage regular and on-time attendance

Support after school activities

Encourage your child build self-advocacy skills in connecting

with their teachers.

Questions regarding a class’s particular assignment, grading

system or help available? Contact your child’s teacher via phone

or email.

Look at Power School together with your child. Discuss report

cards and progress reports.

Provide distraction free, consistent, and supportive environment

for homework and study time.

Resources Teacher: Consulting with classroom teacher to arrange

before or after school support should be student’s first step! Two Homework Centers:

Library 7:00am-4pm (M, T, R) 7:00am-3:00pm (Wednesday)
