Assessments and Grading Policy

Grading and ReportingBalanced Assessment Approach

• Projects• Rubrics specific to assignments• Tests & quizzes• Performance tasks

Student understanding is assessed in multiple ways. Each assessment type provides information to guide and inform instruction to meet the needs of students.

Rocky Run Middle School will use a Rolling Grade Book to determine grades throughout the year. A rolling grade book is:

● A cumulative document. ● A student’s final grade is determined by a

combination of all assignments & assessments throughout the year, regardless of the quarter the work was completed, and is not an average of quarter marks.

● The grade posted at the end of each traditional quarter is a snapshot of a student’s current progress in the course.

Note: only high school credit courses are permitted to administer final exams. Teachers should adjust the final grade calculation accordingly.
