Role of the EAL programme: Develop and reinforce the English language
in all areas of the curriculum Support given in class and out of class as
necessary
The goal of the EAL support team is to enable students to function in all areas of the curriculum
EAL
Throughout the year your child will be assessed in a variety of ways: Pre-assessments: to determine what they already
know. Formative assessment: allowing us to find where
your child is and where we need to take them. Summative assessment: this will be done at the end
of units to see what they have learnt Reading: PM Benchmark and the Reading Continuum Writing: through summative assessment and the
continuums Mathematics: TISA mathematics continuums.All the continuums are highlighted when students have achieved their learning objective.
Assessment/Differentiation
Should take approximately 20 minutes per night Levelled reading books 4 days a week and
Library books to be enjoyed on the weekend Children are expected to draw or write about
their favourite book weekly Library book exchange will be once a week The reading folder should come to school every
day containing the reading book and reading record
Homework
Children will have a reading record book. These are given as a link between home and school
Please inform the teacher if there is a different pick up (play date/activities)
Urgent messages to be sent to Primary Office as we cannot guarantee checking of emails during the day

No Hat No Play! Please provide Healthy Snacks – NO NUTS Water bottles should be at school every day
and be labelled with students name Appropriate foot wear, no laces if they can’t
tie them! A change of T-shirt, hat, water bottle and
appropriate foot wear are required for P.E
