• No English textbook or workbook

• Pupils will use readers and their accompanying set of thematic worksheets stipulated by MOE

• Parents will be informed of language items taught through the cover page of each set of worksheet

Getting a head-start through…

• Role model reading.

• Read with your child.

• Visit the libraries for a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction reading materials (suited for your child’s reading pace)

• Play rhyming games to improve pronunciation

• Practise the sounds of the vowels, consonant letters and consonant blends with your child

• Differentiate between long vowel sounds and short vowel sounds

• Discuss about the story read – stories come alive

• An annual exercise at start of a new school year

• Your child will receive a Student Medical Record Form from his/her Form Teacher

• Please provide the necessary information on your child’s medical condition to the best of your knowledge and attach medical documents from doctors/hospital where necessary

• These information will be collated, updated and maintained by the school yearly.

• An annual exercise conducted by the School Health Division for all the students, including the P1 students.

• At P1, they will be given various checks such as vision, hearing, posture checks and immunisation.

• Your child will receive a Health Booklet that he/she will keep for future purpose too.

• To set your child at ease

- teachers will talk to the your child prior the exercise

- You can talk to your child too

• If your child displays anxiety towards the screening exercise, do alert your child’s teacher.
