WELCOME TO OPEN HOUSEPARENTS

Presented by the Kindergarten ASD teachers: Mrs. Berrette and Mr. Martinez

PURPOSE

The purpose of this open house is to provide parents with information about the school’s regulations and how the kindergarten ASD classrooms operate on a daily basis.

MODIFIED CURRICULUM

The ASD unit use a curriculum called the Unique Learning System. It is aligned to our students’ needs and therefore make them learn through a variety of wonderful visuals.

The Unique learning system is composed of:

a) Reading

b) Math

c) Science

d) Social Studies

e) Music

f) Art

WEEKLY REPORT

Each student will receive a weekly report every Friday based on the unique learning curriculum. The weekly report will have their progress in reading/language arts, math and behavior. It will also provide any concerns if there is ANY.

Parents will be asked to sign and return the report every Monday.

GRADES

The grades are outlined below:

a) E for excellent

b) G for good

c) S for satisfactory

The grade S is given even if the child has had a hand over hand while doing the activity.

DAILY ROUTINE

Each student follows a daily picture schedule. The daily picture schedule involves their small groups, computer time, individual time, one to one, listening, leisure and large group. The 15 minutes centers are: Individual time, one to one, listening, leisure and large group. The 30 minutes centers are small groups and computer.

BEHAVIOR CHART

Every day each student starts off with good behaviors and as the day goes they either stay on good behaviors column or they move to warning and from there to trouble.

The weekly report will keep you posted on the overall week behavior.

Rewards will be given for the overall good behavior week.

MATERIALS LIST

Each student was issued a list of materials and based on our limited funds, we are asking parents to support their child in order to ride along to a smooth successful year. We want to make their learning as great as possible.

There is a website available for each teacher. Parents are encouraged to access it whenever possible. Important information as well as useful websites and activities will be posted for parents and students. Parents are encouraged to create their webpage as well.

NEW SCHOOL’S WEBSITE

Ms. N. Martinez will be at the 2nd floor computer lab assisting parents in creating their webpage account.

TEACHTOWN

During computer time, students are to be on a program called Teachtown. It allows them to be at their level and progress as they are mastering the lessons.
