• All curriculum aligns with our Florida State Standards.

• Students receive daily whole group, small group, and individualized instruction in reading and math.

• Remediation and enrichment are an integral part of the curriculum.

• Students are assessed periodically to determine progress for remediation and/or enrichment.

A.C.C.E.L.Academically Challenging Curriculum to Enhance Learning

*Students will be assessed to determine their level of instruction.

*Students may be provided with the opportunity to go to an upper grade level class for math instruction.

*Our 5th grade students receive their ACCEL instruction at Walter C. Young Middle School

*Students will have the opportunity to work at a pace that is appropriate for their level of instruction.

Dual Language

An instructional approach which improves student achievement by developing bicultural, biliterate, and cognitive skills needed to

participate in today’s competitive global context.

This program is available in grades

Kindergarten through Fifth grade.

SpecialsStudents will attend specials daily throughout the school year.

iReady Reading and Math Program. iReady is an adaptive diagnostic

program that provides below, on, and above grade level instruction.

Monthly Student Recognition

Students are recognized by their teachers every month for one of the character traits below. Certificates are given and group pictures for each trait are included in our

yearbook.

Choose Love Movement

School-Wide RecognitionGolden Gators

• Golden Gators are given to students or faculty by other students, faculty or parents.

• Golden Gators are given to someone who goes above and beyond, fills someone’s bucket by showing love, courage, gratitude, forgiveness and compassion, or does anything that is worthy of special recognition!

• Students who receive Golden Gators are announced weekly on the morning announcements.

Reading in the Hallways• When a student is caught

reading in the hallway between 7:30am and 7:50am, a safety patrol will give them a Reading in the Hallway ticket.

• These tickets are entered into a monthly prize drawing!

• Students can earn prizes and special recognition!

Extended Learning Opportunities Program

Gator Clubs• Students can participate in after school clubs for an additional

fee.

•Clubs may include Spanish, chess, cheerleading, arts & crafts, Lego builders, dance, and robotics.

Title 1

Lakeside is a Title I School which entitles us to federally funded assistance for the benefit of our student body.

In order to benefit from the funding, our school population of free and reduced school lunches must exceed 52%.

If you feel that you could benefit from free or reduced meals, please apply over the summer to the Food and Nutrition Services at www.myschoolapps.com.

Safety and Security All parents must check in at the Single Point

of Entry with photo identification to enter the

building.

• Availability is first come, first serve.

• Aftercare 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

• Before Care 6:45 am – 7:30 am

Become a Volunteer!

• Register to be a volunteer at browardschools.com/get-involved

• In order to help in the classroom or be a chaperone on a field trip, you must register in advance.

• Once you register on browardschools.com/get-involved, it will take approximately 3 weeks for the process to be completed.

• If you have applied online, this does not mean that you have been approved to volunteer. In order to verify that you have been approved, please stop by the single point of entry with a photo ID or contact Mrs. Sanchez, Volunteer Coordinator.
